Cotton balls work better, they form a jag into the grooves and a bag of them is cheap.  Plus you can form a patch for any caliber from one of the balls.  Just Saying ;)

You got anything made of cotton flannel lying around the house not being used?  Easy to cut into 2" squares.

So just stuff a cotton ball in the muzzle and push it with a ramrod?

Howdy,

Do you know any quilters ? My wife quilts with only cotton and I have a great source of scraps for making patches. Also, the batting that is sewn between the layers of fabric works well for early passes cleaning shotgun tubes.

Howdy,

One good friend always laughed when he sold anyone cleaning patch.

He just cut up cotton rag into whatever size he needed.

He didn't do extra cleaning.  He rarely took a gun apart very far.

After hearing from several shooters over the years, I totally stopped

any sort of routine annual cleaning sort of thing.

I really like boresnakes.  A great idea.

An old peanut butter jar is my snake washing machine.  ;)

Spray clp is always part of my gun cleaning.

No more lookin fur parts under the furniture.

Best

different strokes......

I use a 22 caliber cleaning rod with a muzzle guide to clean every caliber firearm I own.  The cotton on the end of a pointed tip forms a jag for the caliber by just pulling off a hunk of cotton from the cotton ball.

Example: 50 black powder 38-55 reloads shot with no patching or tubing - one water soaked cotton ball patch and 3 dry ones ...

GK,

Not sure this company handles the type patches you are searching for but they have very good products especially in the gun cleaning category.

Cool, I’ll need to try this, because Q Tips certainly do leave fibers behind when I use those.

Who on earth would wash a dirty, grimy, greasy gun patch?

A Scot.  But it's not hard.  you just put 'em in a bag of some sort &  throw 'em in the washer/dryer.  Made outta natural fibers, they last forever.

If they lasted FOREVER, he wouldn't need to order more!

I have washed them and is a pain in the A to do but it works. The Arsenal patches work so well  with water and oil. And can save money to go to Winter Range!!!!!!!

PS I make cartridge every day and  or case bullets every  don't have time to cut patches.
