Sedalia Dave Posted January 12, 2018 Posted January 12, 2018 John Wayne’s Pistols Up for Auction Quote On January 27, Milestone’s Historic Military & Firearms Auction offers Smith & Wesson collectors the chance to own John Wayne’s silver-grip Smith & Wesson revolvers, holsters and spurs. (Click here to view the online catalogue.) We’re talking . . . two 1932 Smith & Wesson matching .38/.44 fixed-sight revolvers — with JW initials on the grips — a hand-tooled leather double holster with gold-overlaid, ruby-adorned silver buckles; stirrups, spurs. How much? The estimate runs between ten and twenty thousand dollars.
Hillbilly Drifter Posted January 12, 2018 Posted January 12, 2018 I would expect them to bring MUCH more than that

Henry T Harrison Posted January 12, 2018 Posted January 12, 2018 They would be nice to have but would also be a bad long term investment. In another generation no one will know or care who he was
Loophole LaRue, SASS #51438 Posted January 12, 2018 Posted January 12, 2018 I'm more interested in the crate of Winchesters mentioned toward the end of the article... LL
Pat Riot Posted January 12, 2018 Posted January 12, 2018 Wow! Is there some cool stuff on their auction site... Just the first page has some revolvers I would love to own.
BLACKFOOT SASS #11947 Posted January 12, 2018 Posted January 12, 2018 The leather and such just does not look like John Wayne, looks more like Roy or Gene or some other Saturday movie cowboy! Blackfoot
Sedalia Dave Posted January 12, 2018 Author Posted January 12, 2018 I noticed that the straps actually on the spurs are well worn. Here is a link to better pictures of the items.

Alpo Posted January 12, 2018 Posted January 12, 2018 While I saw him CARRY two guns (in The Shootist), I don't recall ever seeing him WEAR two guns. That rig appears to have never been worn.
Abilene Slim SASS 81783 Posted January 12, 2018 Posted January 12, 2018 I've seen those "Shootist" pistols at the Cowboy Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City. Beautiful.
Crooked River Pete, SASS 43485 Posted January 13, 2018 Posted January 13, 2018 I like that engraved King Cobra, maybe I should send mine out.
