(AP) North Dakota Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem says a loaded gun may be stored in a vehicle but proper identification must be revealed to law enforcement during a traffic stop. Stenehjem says in a written opinion issued Thursday that a valid state driver's license or other proper identification "is the equivalent of a valid concealed weapons license" under North Dakota's so-called constitutional carry law. The law took effect in August and allows law-abiding adults to forgo background checks and classes. Mandan Republican Rep. Todd Porter and some other GOP lawmakers asked for the opinion, after some law enforcement and prosecutors raised questions if it was legal to have a loaded weapon in a vehicle without a permit.
