A Big Iron on his Hip
I would hope that at least some of us would remember the old Marty Robbins song, "Big Iron." The story of an Arizona Ranger who was after an outlaw named "Texas Red" armed with "a big iron on his hip."
It is never said *what* the big iron was, but I have read that the song was insipred a custom made .45 SAA that had the orignal grips replaced with larger ones and an 8" octagon barrel that was made from a Marlin rifle. A "big iron" indeed.

The correct story of the Marty Robbins Big Iron, which I currently own. Robbins was a customer of Andy Anderson, Hollywood Fast Draw holster maker. Andy's N. Hollywood shop was the Gunfighter holster shop. Robbins Gunfighter album of western songs was named after the shop. The Big Iron was custom built by Anderson for his own use.
