donbouquet
The Road Agent self-cocking external hammer shotgun seems kinda cool. The price at one shop was $445, but I just cannot get past those weird looking hammers. or is it just me?

Nate Kiowa Jones #6765
It is not a traditional side lock or back lock style hammer double. The basic action is a box lock style action but they have moved the hammers to the outside. It reminds me of the Russian Baikal hammer double #1 and #2. They were both based on thier box lock actions, good strong durable guns. But, The #1 had what looked like hammers but were just cockers. They did not strike an actual firing pin. The #2 did have external firing pins but to move them to the outside the firing pins were bent up and looked like crankshafts. They both had what looked like side lock plates but were made of plastic.
Griff
Per Shooter's Handbook 22.3, pg 8: Quote - Shotguns: SASS legal external hammer double barrel, single shot, or lever actions. External-hammer double barrel shotguns must have manually functioning hammers. Faux hammers and hammers that are cocked internally are illegal. Not legal in categories that require external hammers. So, IMO, of no practical use... and ugly to boot!
Seamus McGillicuddy
I can kind of understand the idea of a hamerless that looks like it has hammers but this one is the opposite. Seamus

Seamus McGillicuddy
Love my Nagant. When I bought it, it came with free ammo. Now the ammo is so scarce that you get a free pistol when you buy a box! Seamus
