Hardpan Curmudgeon SASS #8967
Does anyone know if there are any court challenges pending on California's 2019 law requiring background checks for ammo purchases...? That one just scares me. Link to comment
Sedalia Dave
No but I wish they would hurry up because the next thing that will require background checks will be reloading supplies. All under the guise of closing a loophole. Link to comment
Blackwater 53393
I'm NOT being dismissive and it is NOT my intention to offend ANYONE!! My recommendation is for those of you who are weary of the idiotic nature of California's 2A destruction to move somewhere else and encourage those who are happy there to secede from the Union and go on with their departure from our Constitutional existence!! If you love what is happening there, I'm happy for you!! Happiness is to be treasured!! If Tennessee were to do what California is doing, I'd be loaded up and gone so fast that half the state would follow me like feathers in a breeze due to the vacuum I'd create with my departure!! Don't throw the stand and fight line at me!! I've stood and fought, but when it gets to the point that you folks have reached, it's time for an organized retreat and to find a position of strength that will sustain you and your life choices!! Hardpan Curmudgeon SASS #8967
A simple concept that does not translate so easily into reality. Most of us are still here because of not-easily-broken ties... careers or jobs that cannot be taken or transferred elsewhere, property, and most important, family. And plain old stubbornness. Kind of an Alamo mentality. B'sides, the b*stards would LOVE it if we all ran away. And never forget... it COULD happen where you live. A reminder: In the year 2000 it was reported that only one of every 11 adults in this state at that time were native Californians. I'm one of 'em, and I can tell you that the collective values of the population here is absolutely nothing like they were when I arrived. Link to comment

Having not lived in CA for almost a decade I really wasn't up on regulation regarding firearms. The last time I went down for a visit I was in Bass Pro Shop (that place is impressive) and had a conversation with a couple of gents about what is and is not allowed. It sort of blew my mind, no pun intended. Link to comment

Well if you don't become active and PDQ; your current state of residence is going to have the same draconian firearms laws that your previous state of residence currently has. Link to comment

His response was "Oh! I don't know anything about them, I just know they are bad." These people are quite typical of the liberal California politician. Their supporters are even more ignoran (If I wanted to go further afield and off topic, I could bring up the $100,000,000 being set aside for college tuition for illegal aliens, "sanctuary state" status to draw in even more illegal aliens, the 12 cent/gallon -20 cents for diesel- fuel tax and almost doubling of car registration to pay for fixing the roads and bridges, things we have been taxed for decades on and not seen any results so far. But that would be going beyond the scope of this sub-forum, so I won't go into those things) Link to comment
Dantankerous
Joe, That is a very good explanation as to why liberal politics in California are beyond ignorant and they actually fail everyone. I'm sure your post could have lasted for pages and pages. That's the sad part, that there is more than enough liberal political atrocity on which to comment. My wife and I frequently discuss moving from our current state somewhere else upon retirement. I will NOT move to a blue state. She now has a list of places where we cannot live in retirement because I refuse to willingly become a victim of what liberal politicians can and will do to your freedoms. And some of those states otherwise are absolutely wonderful places. Extreme liberal politics have indeed chased many many people away from their homes in some of these states and have chased many many businesses to more business-friendly states. It's incredibly sad to see liberal politics ruining otherwise very fine places. I know several people who have moved from California to get away from it all; the overpopulation of protected illegals, the taxes, draconian gun laws, failing public school systems, etc. All reasons stated to me by people who just want to live in freedom not under the thumb of constant liberal policy attempting to change a United States state into a socialism. Dubious Don #56333
Being a retired cop and working behind the counter of a gun store every day I can see the usefulness of instant background checks and some other gun-related laws prohibiting felons, crazies among others from possessing firearms. As far as CCW restrictions, assault weapons bans, bump stocks and their silly as heck NFA rules.....I do not agree, I do not consent. Except for those narrow rules I listed, NONE of their dang gun laws do a thing except interfere with good citizens rights. NONE of those laws make anyone safer nor are they intended to; its about CONTROL, not safety. No more. Link to comment
