Subdeacon Joe
Fires in Santa Rosa were close, an advisory to get out was issued. We left at about 0430. I'll update later - maybe about 1800. ADDED: got home yesterday morning. A real stonach-clenching drive. House is OK. Power is on. No internet or cable, which is nothing. Praise be to God for all things. But, so much destruction. Fortunately little loss of life. Sonoma County will be years recovering. Thank you for prayers and good thoughts for us. Shore, , 5070govt I wish I could give you some information. Take heart that there have been only 11 deaths in the county.

Birdgun Quail, SASS #63663
My brother-in-law live in Forestville, *, and he's bugged out, not because he had been told to evacuate, but because air quality is too heavy with smoke and ash. Subdeacon Joe, stay safe and praying for you and yours well being. * I won't say in which state these fires are occurring because that would be political and against SASS guidelines. Subdeacon Joe
Thank you all. We're safe. My boss has a guest room and will put us up for the night. Put in a few hours at work - beat sitting in a shelter - hardly anyone came in for work. Saw a news clip from a store close to the house and from what I could tell our place may be OK. Still can't get back

Sedalia Dave
Glad you are safe SDJ. They were interviewing a guy on the news that pretended to evacuate and then defying orders snuck back in trying to save his home. He failed and almost died in the process. Capt RHK Thanks, Cap'n. So many have lost every material possession other than the clothes they were wearing, and maybe their cell phones and wallets, when they had to leave. My wife and I are truly blessed. We have bugged out twice - Monday morning and again Wed. night - but we have been able to return to a home. I've been listening to the local radio today and people are really stepping up. SAAGs meats had already donated something like 9,200 pounds of bacon and sausage to the food bank. They decided it isn't enough so next week they are donating 90,000 pounds -- that isn't a typo, 90,000 pounds - of bacon, ham, and sausage. EJ Gallo has given $1,000,000 to relief. Other local companies have donated tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of dollars to relief funds. There are several GoFundMe pages up, one has almost reached its goal of $300,000. We have police, fire, ambulance, and utility crews from all over, not just CA, but Oregon, Idaho, Montana (brought 2 recently retired borate bombers out and sent them), Nevada, and lord knows where else. I heard on the radio that a crew from Australia has arrived - I assume that they are specialists in fast moving woodland fires.

J.D. Daily
I hope the State* does a better job of clean-up than they did after the Ridge fire in Calaveras County. It took them months to contract for removal of the debris from burned structures, vehicles & off-highway equipment. Had to find enough contractors with hazmat licenses. Then there weren't enough trucks that had 2010 or newer engines or Diesel Particulate Filter retrofits to haul the megatons of debris to landfills that can accept waste containing asbestos. Moonbeam should have waved the regulations & allowed contractors & trucks from NV to compete for the work. Of course the retired & low income residents in the fire affected area of of Calaveras County aren't as important as the fire victims in Napa & Sonoma Counties. *I don't blame the County because, Counties don't have the resources of the State & Fed money is given to the State for disbursement.
