Pat Riot Posted September 16, 2017 Posted September 16, 2017 Some years ago a woman in er car in front of me was holding me up at a stop by looking for something in her console. She only held me up maybe 10 seconds but those were MY 10 SECONDS. She made a left, I made my right. As I drove this road for several years I knew it well. Up ahead there was a fairly sharp curve to my left that rounded a small hill. You couldn't see up the road past the curve. All of a sudden a concrete truck rounded the bend, flew across the road into "my" lane and then left the road and crashed into some trees. The driver was on a cell phone and deserved the bruises he got. Luckily he wasn't more badly injured. If that lady hadn't been fiddling around in her console I would have probably been hit by that oncoming cement truck. I am sure because I timed it. If I hadn't been hit it would have been real real close. I think of that woman from time to time when I am stuck in traffic now.
Keystone, SASS # 47578 Posted September 17, 2017 Posted September 17, 2017 Yep, had the same thoughts.
Black Angus McPherson Posted September 17, 2017 Posted September 17, 2017 I am alive today because a murderer couldn't find a parking spot. He testified that he was going to kill me when he saw me walking on patrol. He couldn't find a parking spot near by. Instead he murdered my Sgt. who he saw parked around the corner sitting in his patrol car. I find it hard to complain about a lack of parking anymore. Although, I can't help but wonder if I'd have had a better chance of seeing the guy coming up on me than my Sgt. did. I heard the shots and was the first on the scene. There but for the grace of God... RIP Mike Sorry, bad memories. Angus
