grenadier Posted September 7, 2017 Share Posted September 7, 2017 Bicycles were used by European armies for nearly the entirety of the 20th century. The Swiss Army still uses them to some extent but until 2007 they had entire units mounted on bicycles. You can move man with a lot more equipment quicker on a bicycle than you can on foot. The Germans used lots of horses all the way through WW2. Field artillery, supply, medical etc contained lots of horseflesh. Somewhere I have pictures, if I find them, I'll post them. The Soldiers manual showed this also, how to use the bicycle and transport equipment on it .
