Loophole LaRue, SASS #51438
I know UB spent some training time at Ft. Devens in MA; I'm sure some other cowboys did as well. The Fort was "decommissioned" in '93, and is now a town ("Devens"); but there are a ton of reminders of what it was "before". Take a look here, for an interesting introduction to the museum, and some neat images. http://www.fortdevensmuseum.org/index.php
Utah Bob #35998
Thanks! Ft Devens in 68.
Badger Mountain Charlie SASS #43172
Looks like Ft. Devens was a clearing house in the 1960's. When the 2nd Infantry Regiment returned from Germany in 1962(?) they were aqssigned to the 5th Division and garrisoned at Ft. Devens.
Utah Bob #35998
10th SF Group was at Devens from late '68 until they moved to Ft Carson in '94-95. Probably the longest residents at Devens ever, at least as far as combat units. Brung my new bride and had a pretty good time there. Reckon I'll send the museum a few bucks. Clay Mosby
I was at Devens from April to November of 1970 for my training in 98J20 Non-communication Intelligence gathering. Met a lovely gal working at the USO in Ayer, married her, and 47 years later we're still happily married.
