History for UB and others

Recommended Posts

I know UB spent some training time at Ft. Devens in MA; I'm sure some other cowboys did as well.

The Fort was "decommissioned" in '93, and is now a town ("Devens"); but there are a ton of reminders of what it was "before".

Take a look here, for an interesting introduction to  the museum, and some neat images.

Looks like Ft. Devens  was a clearing house in the 1960's. :)

When the 2nd Infantry Regiment returned from Germany in 1962(?)  they were aqssigned to the 5th Division and garrisoned

at Ft. Devens.

10th SF Group was at Devens from late '68 until they moved to Ft Carson in '94-95. Probably the longest residents at Devens ever, at least as far as combat units. Brung my new bride and had a pretty good time there.

Reckon I'll send the museum a few bucks.

I was at Devens from April to November of 1970 for my training in 98J20 Non-communication Intelligence gathering. Met a lovely gal working at the USO in Ayer, married her, and 47 years later we're still happily married.
