Yul Lose
In 1998 I came across a 1948 Ford Sportsman, Ford only made 28 1948 Sporstman. They were actually 1947's titled 1948. I loved that car and took the flathead V8 up to a guy in Temecula who rebuilt the engine and he also installed a Columbia 2 speed rear end in it. The wood was pretty much rotted away but I found a guy over on the coast, Rick Carr who built factory correct wooden bodies. He spent quite a bit of time looking at the car and finally gave me a price of $74,000.00 to replace the wood exactly like Henry would have done it. Well I already had about $35,000.00 in the car with the engine work and everything so dumping that amount plus a lot more for the body work, interior, upholstery and new convertible top didn't really appeal to Mrs. Lose. There is a wooden car show over at Moonlight Beach every year in September so I drove the car over and it turned heads everywhere because it looked like a scrap wood pile driving down the road. I put a for sale sign on it with no price and the offers started coming in. The guy that startedd Knapp shoes wanted it as did a large BMW dealer in LA. I drove it over there on Saturday and Sunday and talked to a lot of people about the car and finally two brothers who looked the car over many times made me an offer of $42,000.00 and I took it. I'll see if I can dig up some pictures.
Dorado
Here's one. My 1943 Willys MB I was heading off to the Veteran's parade. I was asked to lead it with the WWII Vets. I was in a near complete infantry uniform, I was missing the Garand....Was. And yes that's a musette bag on my back. I'm in a jeep therefore musette bag. I've done a lot more work to it since then. I got a new back seat, grill, and fixed a few other things. I also have a 1968 Ford Mustang Fastback with the 289 2bbl engine. I'm going to rebuild the engine soon and turn it into a 315cu.in. with 4bbl carb. 1967 Chevy Nova SS with the 327 350hp small block and I'm converting it to a 4 speed 1959 Chevy Apache 3100 stepside. I've got a LQ4 to put in it in front of a 700R4 transmission I don't have pictures handy of these others right now. So that'll have to do.

The early '67 427 Corvette was the pinnacle of raw muscle engineering!! A partner and I ran a '65, made up to look like a '67, for a couple of years back in the early '70s. We made a bundle of money street racing in those days.

This is the car that made me notice cars as a boy. It is the car we all wanted but could not afford. It is the car I wanted to use for dates, to cruise Main St. on Saturday night, and to street race on Friday nights. Jan and Dean and the Beach Boys sang her songs, and we were in Heaven. She is the stuff that dreams were made of. Fifty years have gone by, but if anything, the attraction has grown only stronger. Allie Mo, you are one very lucky lady! And no offense to Mr. Mo...but DRIVE that baby; it is a vehicular sin to let her sit. When you are ready to pass her on to a new owner, PLEASE call. Big fan of the 70s Ford trucks. I have had a 79 F-250 4x4... 78 f-150...78 Bronco. Latest is a 76 Ford F-100 with a 300. No AC, no power brakes, and no power steering. And with a 3 on the tree!
