It does not matter how the time is acquired; be it time spent shooting, miss penalty, procedural, safety, SOG, stage DQ. The only thing that matters is the cumulative time at the bottom when everything is added up. Fortunately the woman has a gunfighter companion. They are trying hard to defend themselves. The gunfighter. Boy is he fast. He's unloading his six-shooters at a gattling gun pace, even though he misses several times. Meanwhile the woman, though slow and methodical in her aim appears to be knocking off just as many Indians as the gunslinger without a miss. The tribe decides to leave as they are losing too many members. The woman and the gunfighter celebrate with beans and coffee around the campfire. Tally: Woman 20 - Gunfighter 20 Who was the hero in this scenario. The faster shooter who had more misses, or the woman who was tried and true? They both survived, therefore they are both WINNERS. BUT, if the Woman shot a Chief and the Gunslinger shot the WigWam maker, the Woman wins. If the Gunslinger shot the medicine man and the Woman shot the TeePee designer, the Gunslinger wins. Marauder SASS #13056 Posted July 31, 2017 Share Posted July 31, 2017 Several local matches have given out annual awards. You normally have to have shot the majority of the matches in that year. Since the shooters generally will NOT have shot the exact same matches, we would go either by their placement in the match or by how many gunfights they won. The category placement normally didn't work out as well now days since we don't have a lot of shooters that qualify. (You cannot use total time because the matches vary enough that it would be comparing apples to oranges.) When we have a tie, I always like to see how the shooters did when the "faced" each other - shot the same matches. About shoot-offs. First they are not always possible for the shooters. What kind of shoot off? Most I've seen were where make-up of misses was allowed, but in a few cases,it was by misses. The later were a bummer to watch. A shooter could shoot very slowly and win even though the others shooter blazed away and had only 1 miss - but finished 7 seconds sooner! Plus, a match and a shoot off are two totally different animals. A good friend used to come in at the top of practically any match but did not always win. But when they had the shoot-off, he was amazing and almost ALWAYS won. He was an extrovert who thrived on the head-to-head, pressure competition. While some others would shoot a great match and beat him due to the extent of the match, they could never keep up with him in a fast, furious shoot off. Even some nationally know shooting experts you saw on tv could not win a match due to the extended, consistent effort required for the entire match. But they could put on amazing shooting expositions for a few fast or accurate shots. So realize that using a shoot off is actually picking a personality type as well as a separate talent. Just share the award for pictures; decide in a gentlemanly / ladylike manner (coin toss or rock, paper, scissors ect.) between the 2 who takes it home now and who gets their award a couple weeks later. Second place (Gentle Ben ) has a score of 114.60. We clearly have a winner, yes? As the Russian hackers would say Nyet !! If we take the 44 replies so far, we may not have a clear winner. Gentle Ben states that he shot the difficult Stage 4 much faster even though Angry Bob may have been faster on the much slower methodical Stage 1 and 6. In addition, Ben pointed out that he didn't miss a target, while Bob was all over the range. NOW BEGS THE QUESTION: If all these scenarios are not considered for a total time winner, why should they be considered for a TIE? Let's ask Gentle Ben.
