Not to sidetrack the kids trash-talk but I'm coming to my first Eldorado!

I quickly checked the stages and I will get to shoot a Nevada Sweep IN Nevada.  Haven't done that since 2003 (or was it 2004?) anyway, a very long time ago at one of the early SASS conventions, the nice locals from Eldorado Cowboys  got us up a match in the open desert in the middle of nowhere, bussed in the cowboys from Lost Wage$ and brought EVERYTHING needed in on a trailer so we could all shoot in the worst wind/sandstorm in the history of the world.  Lovely chuckwagon lunch blew right off my plate and headed for Colorado.  So did a lot of hats.  It was a hoot!

This Soot Lady Gunfighter is looking forward to seeing old friends and making new ones and going to a match that has been on my bucket list for a long time!

Lou,

Thank you so very much for choosing to come play with us.  We promise to do everything we can to provide fun activities and an enjoyable match.

And we will feed you twice this time.

Lunch on Friday and formal awards banquet on Saturday night.  No promises on the wind.  :D

If there is ANYTHING we can do to improve your experience or assist in any way;  please do not hesitate.

I can always be reached via the wire and the official emails of the board AND our phone numbers are on the website.  Thank you again and I'm very much looking forward to seeing you at Eldorado.

As for side tracking the trash talk...

I don't know; we just seem to put more effort into being stupid than most.

Running?

Seems to be a two edged sword.

As Charming says to me - Creekers always been pretty good at the running...

Never been real good at the stopping.  :o

Runnin!........... I spoke with Creeker yesterday and got the lay of the land, hotels and such but NOT ONE WORD was said about runnin!  Good grief, I just dropped my registration in the mailbox and can't get it back so it sounds like I'm stuck with getting into shape by the end of September!  On the bright side, ROUND is a shape so maybe I don't have a problem after all.

Just another Shooter from Arizona checking in, looking forward to the fun, which as I understand it, is GUARANTEED in writing somewhere!

That's the problem I have with running, when I try to stop, I plant my feet and just sorta tip over.  So to keep tipping over to a minimum I try to run REAL slow.

Read the stages on the website.

No where near as much running this year......

That was a conscious decision.

I wanted to make sure that there would be the number of positions and movements expected from a Creeker written match, but that those distances would be shorter than in years past.

This year, it is all about being a full throttle, burn it down, let your guns do your talking, shooters match.

Now that being said, sometimes, despite my best intentions, a stage may set "wider" or with longer movements than it seems like it should have based on the drawing.

It happens.

But I promise to do my best to set the stages as close as possible to the shooters book so you know exactly what you're in store for.

And it will be fast and fun.

How much Winter Range history do you know? You may or may not have heard of an insanely handsome young gentleman of bovine alias fame who had a bit of a "stumble" while there. The result of that "stumble" left him incapable of running. (Never mind the fact that his inability to run in the first place was the cause of the stumble.) Anyway, this insanely handsome young bull, despite the inability to run, never ever misses an opportunity to shoot Eldorado. It's more fun than getting carted off on a stretcher. ;)

Wow.

Aren't most things more fun than that?

Eldorado...

More fun than gargling with gravel.

Being kicked in the head sucks...

Eldorado sucks less!

Eldorado...

It's better than explosive diarrhea.

Eldorado...

It's more enjoyable than a four hour flight in coach sitting next to someone with body odor, while they eat an onion sandwich and clip their toenails.

You made me promise to not tell anybody about that flight.

Sadly, that one actually occurred to me.  The only thing that saved the guy from going out the exit door was that instead of four hours, it was only an hour flight from LA to Vegas.

Honest.

Body odor, an onion sandwich and wearing sandals.  Picking at his toes the entire trip.

And yes, Eldorado is much better than that.

   I now realize the errors in my wording of my previous post.  Looking at the stages, the distances are reduced from previous years, but again, age makes this relative.

Replace runnin'  with 'movement', and 'shape' with 'condition'.....

I was trying to solicit a sponsorship from Tiger Balm, but nothing yet.  Gave up on Ben Gay when it appeared they implied 'prior qualifications'......

Looking forward to another great experience.

We appreciate you seeing thru all our silliness.

This statement got me to thinking. (Yeah, scares me too.) Do people on the wire who've never met us think we behave like this in person? If they do, why haven't they come to shoot with us yet?   B)

Obviously they have never seen me skipping merrily through the stages sprinkling Fu Fu dust on all the shooters and romancing all the ladies....

This, in itself, is worth the price of admission!

May I offer an alternative? Since you're the club president and match director, how about you cancel Ace of Hearts' application? That would help us all

Since we are up against the NW regional this year and applications are a little (a lot) lower than our hoped for level.  I really can't afford to cancel any ones application...  Not even fu fu bunny.

Oh my.........What on earth have I gotten myself into?  I was thinking of bringing my bugs bunny suit for fear of drawing too much attention but now it appears that probably no one would even notice!;)

We once had Two Dot here wearing nothing but a union suit and a pink feather boa.  Your bugs bunny suit wouldn't even crack the top 10.

I have decided that I really don't want to shoot a Marlin or wear uncomfortable boots - But I am still debating about doing a full on B-Western obnoxious outfit just for the fun of it.

Fringed pants/ fringed shirt and gauntlets.

Would still shoot in Gunfighter - so I wouldn't have to wear the spurs (break my neck), shoot the Marlin (jack out even more rounds than I do now) or wear fancy boots (my feet would rebel).

I know where you can get your hands on some real fancy boots that wouldn't ache one little bit!

   Yes, Creeker, very wise to forego the SPURS.  A cautionary tale.....

Last 2 years I've enjoyed shooting B-Western at Eldorado.  The folks in the category are a hoot to shoot with.  Last year I had a flare-up of insufficient vein function in my lower right leg, and had to juggle footwear.  Two-tone Earthwalkers were most comfortable, and allowed for spurs and straps without dangerous difficulties.  Compression socks and moleskin pads helped.

Having survived Eldorado, I figured I could do the same at Jersey Lilly 2 weeks later.  2nd day was grim.  Lidocane ointment, gauze pads, all the King's horses and everything else managed to get me through, and some pain pills allowed me to go to the banquet.  But when I removed my sock, a large portion of skin right under the spur/strap junction on inside of right foot came off, too.  Dr's  first question;  "Are you diabetic?"  I answered no.  "Well, your leg doesn't know it."  Effects of blood clots incident to shattering my femur in 1967 and resulting vein troubles mean even a small cut or abrasion heals VERY slowly, and only under care of wound-care specialist (unfortunately in Palmdale- an hour and a half away).

Long story short, my 5 x 2.5 cm wound closed over early this month.  Weekly trips to Palmdale, and LOTS of $$, too many pain pills at first ( Dr. pointed out my injury, which included deep-tissue bruising, was located exactly over the main nerve junction for the foot), and ice and hydrocodone sometimes didn't even work....

My healthy foot wasn't bothered at all.

This year I'm shooting Elder Statesman.  I'll still have fun.  I WILL be more careful ....
