Trip to the LGS

Went looking for a revolver in 22LR for a ladies carry gun.  I know, I know but it's better than nothing.

50 some pistols in stock with 3 of them revolvers, none of which were interesting.

What was interesting was a full shelf of "unobtanium" powders to include Clays and other formerly impossible to get powders. Quantity of primers of all persuasions and wonder of wonders, a full 8 foot shelf dedicated to 22 LR. The 22 was packaged in 50 to 685 rounds.

I did not check prices but the availabilty is back

Last summer a pard was getting nervous that he was going to run out of Unique.   I had a extra 8lb jug so I sold it to him.  He was most happy to get it.  As we go by Grafs on our weekly shopping trip, it's convenient for me to drop in and check.  They had been stock out of Unique until about a month ago.  At last match I asked my pard if he wanted another 8lb of Unique.  He replied,  "Now that we have a new president,  he wasn't worried about running out.".   I think maybe the hoarding has slowed considerably and people realize they have enough hoard.

MidwayUSA sends me at least a dozen emails each day - often it's bulk ammo marked way down.

Monday we were in Columbia so i picked up another 5m small and 5m large Winchester primers they had on closeout.   Next year's supply.

Hoarding had a lot to do with shortages in some areas, I am sure.

Isn't that great? :)

A couple years ago I passed on a great deal on a .22 rifle as I honestly thought the supply would never be back. It was a Ruger 10/22 for my Grandson. Turns out he likes the Henry 22 so I am getting him one of those before he comes out the summer...and I have plenty of .22 ammo for him to burn up! :D

By the way, Noz, a friend of mine carries the Ruger LCR .22lr and he just loves it. He raves about the rigger pull on it being smooth and not heavy. It weighs a tad less than a S&W 442 (empty).

Check Palmetto State Armoury. They run great deals on 22 a lot. Yes, I'm hoarding it.

22 is still scarce around here, and when available, it's high.

Nasty Newt lives in my former (until retirement) state of PRK.  Last summer the Sacramento denizens passed a law that along with declaring bullet button AR's "assault rifles" that can't be sold or transfered to civilians, also bans internet & mail order sales of ammo.  Last summer in the Reno area you couldn't find a brick of 22LR for less than $45 and there would only be a couple on the shelf.  In Nov I bought a case of 5000 Aguila for $330.  I just checked ammoseek.com and it can be had for $230. The prices of popular calibers like 223/5.56 & 9 mm seem to have reached the the point where if any lower it is a loss leader, 22LR may not have reached rock bottom yet.  For the last year 55 grain & 62 grain FMJ 223 have been at the same price level as in 2012 before Sandy Hook.

22?  I think I remember seeing one once...might have been a dream.
