Are you able to fit a Frontier or Thunderstorm hammer to a 1871/1872 Open Top?

It looks basically the exact same frame gun.

Snakebite lowered the hammers a bit on mine, carefully cut and welded them and did a nice job. Shooting FCD with them became easier, but be careful, much more lower than mine would make shooting two handed difficult as the hammer would hit the web of your hand

Is that not considered an outside modification?

i just want a lower hammer cause to shoot one handed my thumb is a bit short.
