I'm looking for a 4 5/8" stainless .357 New Vaquero, and called EIGHT stores in three towns looking for one.

"Nope, and none of our suppliers seem to have any either."

I found a used blued 4 5/8" .357, and one new 5 1/2" stainless .45.

A lot of local gun stores do not carry any kind of single action revolvers.  The biggest market is for black guns.  If you have a Cabelas near you they usually have them in stock and can ship from store to store.  Locally here in Phoenix every big gun show has vendors selling them.  Then there are the gun auction sites.

Howdy,

You didn't look too hard on gunbroker.

First one was the fourth down then a pair down another couple inches.

SASS logo on the grips.

vaquero 357 was the search.

They seem a little overpriced but this time of year.....

Best

There does seem to be decent availability online, but I was a bit surprised to not find any *locally*. Shipping and txfer fees add another $65 - $70.

www.gunbuyer.com has the TALO stainless version for $610 with free shipping.

Another thing you can try is Davidson's Gun Genie.  You can look at their stock and then it will tell you what local dealers will order the gun and for how much.  I have bought a few this way.  Sometimes you can get a really good price because the dealer is ordering the gun knowing it is already pre-sold.

I have one of these on the way through Scheel's in Great Falls. They want a ridiculous price - $699, but I found a place here in Helena that would get it for me for $629, so they'll match that. Why buy in Great Falls rather than my own town? I have at least $225 in Scheel's Rewards cards from my credit card, so it'll only be $404 out of pocket. :)

I already have a pair of these TALO versions, and am trying to match up an odd wheel that I've already installed a SBH hammer on. I've got a couple more SBH hammers and at least three pairs of standard black checkered grips, so all is good. ;)

He typically wants to find one in front of his door with no fees brand new for $400, am I close?

Took a peek gunsamerica about 300 assorted VAQS without going to heading cowboyactionshooting.

I've checked every gun shop for two hundred miles around, and haven't found a single stainless .357 yet. High cap, black plastic 9's and 40's are the name of the game anymore. :-( The TALO waiting for me at Scheel's was the only 4 5/8" stainless .357 Vaquero they could find from their distributors.

I get my Vaqueros from Long Hunter....You won't be disappointed

NO you're not close. Have you dealt with them? I haven't, I have an FFL so I buy from distributors. There was a thread in here a couple of years back about online buying for Cowboy guns. GOA was one that got less than stellar reviews. J Bar will search for what he wants and for the best price. Don't most of us do the same?

Turned out even better than that, actually. $629.99 price match, minus $225 in credit card rewards cards, then the gal at checkout tacked on a $25 "Mall Discount Coupon", so my out-of-pocket cost was $379.99... which went on my Sheel's card, accounting for another $11.40 toward the next rewards card (3:1 points for in-store purchases). ;)  Not counting ~5 gallons of gas for the Civic to get to yesterday's Cowboy shoot near Simms, then on in to Great Falls and back to my home in the hills east of Helena again... ~$2.18/gallon... call it another eleven bucks. :)

Now I feel bad... I should have met their price of $699.99, paid to have it transferred to Helena, and driven the FLD120 into town to get it. It would have been $800+ that way, but at least no guilt to deal with.

A feller can't not have too many Ruger Vaqueros,  I'm thinking. Just as long as he buys 'em by the pair. :D:D:D

Durn good funs. I mean guns.

This makes 23 Vaqueros/New Vaqueros currently in my safe, and I've sold 8 others. :)

I'm thinking a pair of NMV's in 44, stainless, 5.5" barrels, low hammers would be a nice addition to my collection. A pair of course.

I have 3 in .44 spl w/4 5/8" bbls, two of them consecutive, but with the original hammers.

The .357 TALO I bought yesterday, along with another 4 5/8" stainless .357 I didn't have a mate for, now both sport SBH hammers, and I have another set of .357 TALO's with the original low-profile hammers they came with. :)

We have them in Stock all the time. Guntraders Redmond, Oregon .  Contact me or Texas Jack Morales

If you use gun genie and then use one of the vendors listed that tells you the total taxes included no transfer fees as your buying from the vendor not davidisons plus lifetime warranty on the fund from davidisons.  Just bought a sig last week that was on sale from davidisons

I shoot a pair of 44 specials , but was under the impression the didn't have them cataloged now days.

Be great if they have them back again.

John Barleycorn has the new stainless 5 1/2" .44 mags in stock, but they're on the full-size frame, of course, not the smaller NV frame.

My local toy store can order most anything but they do not stock single action.  They do sell salesman's samples occasionally but otherwise they say there is no market for SA guns.  When he does get a salesman's sample it is a really good deal.

Actually, I am one of two shooters who shoot DA revolvers at our local Steel Challenge match.  Eighty shooters, two revolvers.

It's all market driven.

By God, if I win the lotto there's going to be a Ruger Vaquero shortage.

So J-Bar, allow me to introduce you to Davidson's Gun Genie. Go to https://www.galleryofguns.com/genie/default.aspx then type in the gun you're looking for. (your SS Vaquero 4 5/8" is KNV-34 and they have 34 of'em ) With the Genie you can buy anything you like from davidsons and have it shipped to a local dealer most ricky-tick. Chop-chop. ! LOL. The store I work at uses Davidson's and this very thing too. Remember the MSRP is NOT the sale price. To see that, you have to list your zip code and they'll provide a list of available shops in your area. For instance, my store's standard markup is well below MSRP. Enjoy!!

I haven't noticed a shortage, I can always find them somewhere.  It seems like smaller shops here in AZ normally have some variation.  Still searching for a Colt SAA, blue, .45, 4  5/8th....now that is a irritant!
