evil dogooder
I played with one today a little. Just curious what people think of them? Is it hard to find reloading components? This rifle has an interesting story like most old guns. It was nice to talk with it's owner about it's history
H. K. Uriah, SASS #74619
1893? I have one of those in 12 gauge. Made by Winchester. Forerunner of the 97. Not SASS legal, but kinda cool. Just gotta use 2.5" shells and black powder. They look really cool.
Tom Bullweed
What I found: The .25-36 Marlin is based on the .32-40 case. The similar .25-35 Winchester is based on the .30-30 case. All four of these cases have the same head, but the .25-36 is .080" longer than the .25-35. Some say that the .25-35 can be fired in the .25-36 chamber with no safety issues and decent performance. Ballistics for the .25-36 117 grain is 2000 fps with smokeless and just under 1500 fps with BP. The .25-36 was discontinued in the 1893 in the early 1920s and is the rarest chambering.
