How can you reduce a calcium deposit without surgery.

I dislocated my thumb a number of times in one day 15 or 16 years ago. I was getting my daughter out of a bad marriage and moving her into a new house. I fell on the thumb while carrying a heavy item. Several more times during the day it happened again. I simply pulled it back into place and continued my necessary job. It has never bothered me too much but as age creeps I find my thumb becoming reluctant to pull back a hammer. The joint has 1/8" or more deposit around the joint that does cause some limits on thumb movements.

I had the same thing in both thumbs several years ago.

i was at a chiropractor for something else, I mentioned the thumbs.

He said let me see.

He grabbed one thumb in each hand, he jerked pulled twisted and repeated 2 or 3 times.

If he handed had hold of both thumbs I'd slapped him silly.

My joints popped and cracked and made several other noises,

but to this day they still work.

Not a clue. I suppose a doctor might know though.

I enjoy the medical advice I see here in the Saloon.

It's .....interesting. :D :D

Especially the medicinal fermented beverages.

And I generally don't need any advice in that area. :D

Go see a doctor Noz. I have the same problem. I actually had to shoot my last 2 matches two handed (one was yesterday) because I can't trust that the joint at the base of my thumb won't lock up or spasm and cause me problems shooting. Have you tried going back to two handed shooting after shooting one handed with a single action for years? What a weird experience to relearn something like that. Heck I even got to the point where I shot my auto loaders and my S&W revolver one handed because 2 handed just seemed unnatural. The shame of it is I know I will need surgery and it will take me out of shooting and riding my motorcycles for a time but it's going to be necessary...Or, I could learn to shoot left handed... :D:P

Included in my daily routine is a fair sampling of fermented medicinal products. Don't help my thumb though.

That's what I'm trying to avoid. I already have too many doctor induced holes in my body.

Two handed would take me out of Frontiersman which I won't do and the thought of left handed makes me shiver.

What I really want is somebody's Grandma's spider web, crawdad claw and rat droppings that can be rubbed on and make it go away.

Noz!! Check into turmeric and flax seed!! Both are oriental home remedies that show some success.

I agree. Were it me, I would consult with a good chiropractor first, to see if manipulation and adjustment can perform a fix without having to undergo a surgical procedure.

I understand what you want to avoid, believe me.

Here is a link that has some info on removing calcium deposits from joints:

https://www.google.com/search?q=how+to+remove+calcium+deposits+from+your+joints&rlz=1CASMAI_enUS724US724&oq=how+to+remove+calcium+depsoits+from+joints&aqs=chrome.2.69i57j0l2.24197j0j8&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

Just understand that these things take time and they may not work. By "time" I mean many months...if they work for you.

I will bet that if you dislocated the joint more than once that calcium buildup is actually your body trying to fuse the joint because of other damage within the joint. The calcium deposits are an indication of other damage. This is what happened to my left knee and the joint did actually try to fuse.

Then I'm all thumbs! ;) BTW, some meds can make you retain a lot of fluid and this aggravates joint pain. Get checked!.

Unfortunately Noz, those things are like a pebble in your shoe. They don't dissolve or otherwise go away. I had one of those in a finger I had broken many years ago and had to come out. If you do have it looked at, be sure it's from someone who specializes in hand surgery, not just general orthopedics

I'd stay away from rat droppings. Otherwise conversations with friends will take place from across the room. :)

Good luck!

Soak them in Urine three times a day for 30 minutes. No one will shake your hands after that and the reduced usage will let them feel better

Now see, that's the kind of information I can use.

I did some serious cranking and moving massage last night and could actually hear gravel grinding. After a while the noise went away and I have more mobility than yesterday. I"ll do more of that and add some heat.

Find a good chiropractor.

I'm not a doctor, don't even play one on TV, but have some knowledge of anatomy and physiology and medicine, and I don't know anything. I'm quite leery of chiropractors, I'd do a lot of research before I visited a particular one. Some are quacks out to soak you for your money. As has been mentioned, most of the people I've known who went to one had trouble getting loose. Seems like they always need just one more month of treatment. Not saying it might not be worth a try to avoid getting cut on, but I'd be REAL cautious.

My 2 cents,

JHC

Yeah, I did.  Life gets in the way. I'll try to call you tomorrow.
