Nickel City Dude Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 Just found this out but at the shot show MEC introduced their new metallic single stage press. Here is a link to the page. http://ultimatereloader.com/mec/ Quote
The Original Lumpy Gritz Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 This new press is 110% K.I.S.S. They will sell lots of'em. With them made from iron-They will last forever. Kinda like the old RCBS jr press when it was made of iron. OLG Quote
Rooster Ron Wayne Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 A little to little and a little to late IMHO ! Just saying . Quote
The Original Lumpy Gritz Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 A little to little and a little to late IMHO ! Just saying . Just how big does a single stage press need to be? Can you list how many other single stage presses this compact are made from iron and not alum? This would work well for loading 'on the road'. OLG Quote

Yes, they have some stiff competition, but with most presses being aluminum these days, this will definitely cut the mustard! Quote

I think they should have made a single stage press with a Turret . Not something that just takes one die. About 20 years ago. Thats what I ment by a little to little and a little to late . If you really wanted another single die press. It looks like a nice one. But I dont ! Quote

OLG Not to take anything away from the MEC, but my Redding single stage is also an iron frame machine. 2 Quote
Rio Brazos Kid Posted February 4, 2017 Posted February 4, 2017 Not to take anything away from the MEC, but my Redding single stage is also an iron frame machine. Lyman's T-Mag is also a cast iron press, and a fine turret press also. Far more desirable than the new MEC single stage press. Just as portable, and actually allows for setting up two calibers, fully adjusted. As already stated, it's about 30 to 40 years too late in the game. RBK 2 Quote
The Original Lumpy Gritz Posted February 4, 2017 Posted February 4, 2017 I had forgot'n about Redding. I don't need a single stage press, as I still have my RCBS Jr(iron)that I bought in 1967. OLG Quote
Red Cent Posted February 4, 2017 Posted February 4, 2017 Lyman Spartan single stage 1963. $225.00?! Sorry, I'll use my Lee Turret. 1 Quote
Von Dutch, SASS # 7995 Posted February 4, 2017 Posted February 4, 2017 RCBS Rock Chucker is still Iron! been loading on mine for over 40 years and RCBS is a great company to deal with. Von Dutch 2 Quote
Yusta B. Posted February 4, 2017 Posted February 4, 2017 It looks like a very nice press but for half the money there is the Lee Classic Turret, 4 station, auto incrementing cast iron press. JMHO 1 Quote
Throckmorton,23149 Posted February 5, 2017 Posted February 5, 2017 fyi for those who say 'too 'late', I"m on several reloading pages on Facebook, and the number of newbies to reloading might just surprise ya. 8 years ago when ammo all but dried up,the number of newbs was thousands. It's backed off some, but they are still out there. Quote
