Hi all,

I generally use a stoger SXS coach gun supreme single trigger as my back up to my SKB SXS. The biggest problem I have with the stoger is that it would be helpful if it opened up a little more than it does to make ejection a little easier. Can the be corrected or am I stuck with it?

Thanks for your replies.

Mr. Clem:

I'm with Mr. Longcolt and would like to know what the easiest way to accomplish this task on our own?

Most shooters DON'T do this particular modification on their own. They let one of our good gunsmiths do it. It usually involves changing the cocking points for both hammers to be a little more in the open position, so the gun hangs open after cocking instead of the cocking springs pushing the gun slightly closed. This sometimes also means the hinge has to be "retimed" to prevent the gun from tearing up the hinge and forearm hangers. It's not just a drop-in part or one single simple "grind this spot right here" operation.

Send the gun off to

Goatneck Clem (above)

Johnny Meadows

Jared at Long Hunter Supply

or one of several other fellers who do good SxS work.

It will be worth it.

Good luck, GJ

You can go on Marauder's Cowboy Page for some info. However if you want to do this yourself, WARNING: DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK. You have to know what you are doing and have a very good understanding of how the SG works. If in doubt, have an experienced cowboy gunsmith do it for you as mentioned above. Good luck.

Amen, to the above advice to let a cowboy gunsmith do this work. (Tho' for the life of me, I can't think why... as both my Stoegers open with more than enough clearance to allow shells to drop out and stay that way for reloading. Neither of which has been modified in this fashion).

I can highly recommend Goatneck for Stoeger work and for Win Mod 12s. He has done several for me.

Disclaimer-- I have no connection to Goatneck's gunsmithing other than being a very satisfied customer

Jared at longhunter did mine, very satisfied.

GJ hit the nail on the head. The SG in the open position is pushed back up just enough to keep the shells from ejecting. I'll take it to C&I.

Thanks guys!
