All 12 are gone now. R.I.P. too those that reached beyond the stars.

IIRC my father met him when the astronauts toured the facility where the capsules were built. My father was in awe to be in such honored company.

Rest in peace, sir.

Although I never met him, (I did meet six of the original Seven many years ago) Gene Cernan was certainly one of my heroes. I hope in the not too distant future he will lose the title of "Last Man on the Moon". My sincere condolences to his family.

This question may sound insensitive so soon after his passing, but I'm sure Capt. Cernan would understand: Is there any indication or real correlation between his and the other Apollo astronauts' trips beyond the protection of the Earth's magnetic field from solar and cosmic radiation? Such information is going to be vital for further exploration of deep space, to the Moon, Mars and beyond.

| Godspeed and R.I.P., Gene Cernan.
