cap gun question 1860 Army

Recommended Posts

I have two 1860 Army revolvers (brass frame) that have stretched frames....one is a Pietta and the other a CVA. My real question is this....Will the barrel, cylinder and internal parts fit into a Uberti 1860 Army frame? I have a line on a steel Uberti frame.

In my experience, Pietta barrels and cylinders will fit other Pietta frames, and Uberti barrels and cylinders will fit other Uberti frames.

But the brands don't interchange.

I have Pietta brass frames I would sell, if yer interested.

CVA is an importer, not a manufacturer.

Look on the gun for manufacturer marks.

I don't believe they will interchange. I have a Pietra steel frame and an ASM frame I would sell. No grips, barrell, cylinder, hammer, bolt, trigger, springs, trigger guard or back strap. If your interested. They have been drilled for a cap post and ruger hand conversion. But we're drilled bigger and alas just have extra holes. Doesn't interference with function. I got these in a trade some time back.

I once tried to do the swap you are talking about and it did not work.

Your best bet is to put the good parts on Ebay and just buy a new Pietta steel frame. They are on sale frequently at places like Cabelas. By the time you buy a frame and assemble one from parts you will probably spend more than a new one will cost.

You can pick up new Pietta frames from GunBroker.com. Type "Pietta frame" in the search box.

Your CVA is probably an Armi San Marco; in which case you're out of luck.
