Somehow, I've never thought of Sam Shepard as a "grade B" actor.......

No, I would say not. Nominated for Best Supporting Actor for 'The Right Stuff.' Director, author, well respected playwright. Quite the talent.

I saw it once and that's enough. It's okay but unless I'm forced to watch it again I won't!

Neither have I. He's very good. :)

Movie is a fun / fantasy . . . very different western and very well made. Great Set for the town of Refuge.

I'd argue that Eric Roberts is also hardly a "B" actor!! Neither is Donnie Wahlburg!!

Eric Roberts or Donnie Wahlburg LOL.

You have to be kidding me .

Steven Seagal, John Snyder ,Tom Wopat, Eric Roberts ,Donnie Wahlburg ,

Jessie Ventura , Eric Estrada and So On .

All have been In or Made watchable movies .

But still grade B actors .

I did like the movie Purgatory.

Robert Duvall , Clent Eastwood , Tom Selleck ,Kirk Duglas grade A actors !

LOL Me too !

Entertaining movie, but it is stretch to reach the level of B grade

Not even grade B by your scale ?

Lol .

I would at least give it a B .

Just saying :-)

it's still a better Western than most of what Hollywierd has been putting out the last fifteen years or so. They've had a few good ones, "Open Range", "True Grit", and of course, more recently, "Magnificent Seven", but most of them have been crap.

I watched Last Stand at Saber River over the weekend. I had forgotten what a good western it was. Beautiful country. A solid story. Tom Selleck, David and Keith Carradine.

I especially liked the shootout at the end with the Comancheros.

Eric Roberts has been nominated for a number of awards. Sometimes he does a great job, sometimes maybe not. One of the busiest actors out there, check his page on IMDB. Did an excellent job in a Justified episode a few years back.
