Badger Mountain Charlie SASS #43172 Posted January 5, 2017 Posted January 5, 2017 To rush to the river, and immerse myself in the icy cold water of the stream to search out the elusive and mythical steelhead, living within the depths. When my feet hit the floor, and the icy air reached my body, I suddenly decided that such an idea was not an realistic and changed my thinking, and returned to the warm covers of my bed to dream of such an endeavor. Sometimes reality has a way of hitting one directly on the head. Quote

Widder, SASS #59054 Posted January 5, 2017 Posted January 5, 2017 About the ONLY thing I would consider doing on a cold winter morning is maybe venture into a rabbit field, w/dogs of course. Walking a field for rabbits allows you to be well clothed, gloved, warm boots, etc..... AND, never far from the vehicle where some warm coffee or hot chocolate awaits. There's just something magical about an early morning rabbit hunting venture with a few friends and dogs. ..........Widder Quote

Badger Mountain Charlie SASS #43172 Posted January 6, 2017 Author Posted January 6, 2017 (edited) Saw palmetto tablets are supposed to enhance the prostate gland. If one is to believe the "experts" it helps reduce the size of the prostate. ED: Saw Palmetto has pumpkin seeds in it. I am not certain how that works as I am not a chemist or physician. Abilene Slim SASS 81783 Posted January 6, 2017 Posted January 6, 2017 Saw palmetto tablets are supposed to enhance the prostate gland. If one is to believe the "experts" it helps reduce the size of the prostate. ED: Saw Palmetto has pumpkin seeds in it. I am not certain how that works as I am not a chemist or physician. I no longer have a prostate. If I take the palmetto tablets, I'm afraid it might reduce the size of something I can ill afford to have reduced. Quote

Badger Mountain Charlie SASS #43172 Posted January 6, 2017 Author Posted January 6, 2017 Cold air will also shrink the bladder. Don't ask me how I know this. It had something to do with neoprene waders, without a zippered fly, and standing long periods of time in cold, very cold, water. Quote

Badger Mountain Charlie SASS #43172 Posted January 6, 2017 Author Posted January 6, 2017 Strangely, in my yout, I did enjoy such recreation. Kinda like the guy freezing in a duck blind, in a blinding snow storm. Watching snowflakes fall while fishing, is a mystical thing, when you are under 40 years of age. And when the reel awakens it gets even better. Quote

That is why my most favorite 'hunting' is varmint during the summer. Love sitting under a nice shade tree, rifles resting on some sandbags on the truck hood, cooler full of cold Pepsi, Baloney samich and chips in a poke, and snickers candy bar for snacking. All this set up at the edge of a huge field called home to a few groundhogs with an occasional crow & coyote wondering into the 'Waterloo' zone. ..........Widder Quote
