Chili Ron Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 Howdy, Do you know where the real old guns are, from the real west? Annie Oakleys rifle(s)? Buffalo Bills guns? And so on, The real lawmen and gunslingers...where did their guns get to? I imagine some of Custers guns are at the Custer Battlefield. This could help in planning a vacation or two or three?? G. I. Tarpicker, SASS #998 Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 The Cody Firearms Museum at the Buffalo Bill Western Heritage Center (I think that's what they call it now) in Cody, WY has a number of firearms once owned by Annie Oakley, Buffalo Bill and Theodore Roosevelt, among others, as does the Gene Autry Museum in CA. The Cody Museum is actually several western history museums in one and is well worth taking two or three days to see it all. -- GIT Quote

Haven't been to Cody Museum . . .but to the Autry a few times. Great collection of old west stuff and historic connected guns. Quote
Dantankerous Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 (edited) Also up by Cody, Wyoming, Trailtown looks like it would be worth a visit. www.oldtrailtown.org Edited December 28, 2016 by Dantankerous Quote
Big Sage, SASS #49891 Life Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 Took me 2 days to see all of the Cody Museum. Well worth the time. Quote
Yul Lose Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 Between all of the museums at the Buffalo Bill Center in Cody a feller could spend a week and probably not see it all. Quote
Pat Riot Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 General Custer's guns are in the Frazier Museum in KY. At least that is according to an article in the Winter 2017 Guns of the Old West magazine Quote
J-BAR #18287 Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 Next time you are in Branson, MO, the Ralph Foster Museum at the College of the Ozarks has an impressive gun collection... historic, modern and military. And 1/2 hour to the north in Springfield's Bass Pro Shop is the NRA Museum. It gets more visitors than the one at NRA headquarters. Quote
