Neuse Rivers
I don't know how or why. I hear about people lucking into great deals now and then, but never me. Well, it finally happened! I've been looking for a compact carry gun. I have full size pistols, but a compact semi is what I wanted. After looking for awhile, I dropped into a local gun shop yesterday just window shopping. I was looking at their used and consignment stuff when I saw a Springfield XDS. The price tag said 225.00 I had to look twice, it still said 225.00 I asked one of the folks there about it, and he said the owner of the gun had just put it on consignment and wanted to move it. We took it out of the case, with their permission I cycled it, triggered, etc. inspected it closely. Dang! without firing it, I couldn't find anything wrong. I walked out with that little gem, straight to the range. Works perfectly. Who else has fallen into a rare great deal?? Merry Christmas! John Barleycorn, SASS #76982
There was a recall on those. Go to the Springfield website to check serial numbers. If your pistol was upgraded there will be a roll pin in the grip safety. Edited December 25, 2016 by John Barleycorn, SASS #76982

Rooster Ron Wayne
I have been a 44 special lover my whole life. I was here on the SASS wire mid summer. I was reading a Post about a Pard looking for a Colt 45 SAA. There was a Pard who offered him a 4.3/4 44 special SAA at a great price. Well below the going 2k. And he turned it down ! and said he only wanted a 45 SAA . I PM'd the Pard with the 44 special SAA , and said if its still available . I would like it at that price. I will say Bob was pleasant to deal with. And This was a early Christmas present to myself. One of the best deals I have found in a long time. And one more Gun off my bucket list . PS. I also found a great buy right here on a Henry 1860 44/40 This year . Nothing better then buying a good Cowboy gun . From a Cowboy on the wire ! Marry Christmas Yall :-)

Lost Trail
Somewhere around 2003, I wanted to pick up a 1911. Started looking and after a couple weeks found an online ad for a Springfield 1911A1 Loaded at a pawn shop in Englewood, CO, advertised for $450. I jumped on the Springfield web site and looked at the Loaded description and MSRP. Called the pawn shop, verified the price, told them: "I will be there in 45 minutes." It came with 2 Wilson Combat and 1 Kimber, 8 round mags and the blue case. Has worked flawlessly through 8,000+ rounds and is my carry gun. Sixgun Seamus
Few years back, a co-worker was going through a divorce. He needed to get guns out of the house. Offered me a S&W 629 with 8 3/8 in barrel for $300 and a Colt King Cobra 6 in for $200. Needless to say I snatched them up and still have them haunting the dark reaches of the safe. Capt. James H. Callahan
I hadn't been in SASS too long, ran into a SASS couple at a gun show. I essentially bought a Cimmarron 24" case hardened frame octagon barrel 1873 NIB for the going rate and got a Navy Arms used '73 (20" blue) FREE, both .45 Colt. Sold the 24" to a buddy of mine, still have the "free" 20". JHC
Chili Ron
Howdy, One outstanding deal was a cap gun. A Nichols stallion .45 for five dollars. Now it was a bit beat up but the good parts on that cap gun matched up to the broken or worn parts on one I had at home. And one day soon a couple cap guns are going to be reworked into good shooters. These little old cap guns go for surprising money. So far for BAD deals Ive bought two guns with broken firing pins. One had to be MADE and one took forever to find the correct part but was installed free. Best CR
