If you are not going to reload, you might want to reconsider the choice of .45 cal. I would come at that from a different viewpoint and say that if you do not intend to reload, you might want to reconsider that choice. Reloading equipment will pay for itself in one reloading session. Everything after that is just gravy. Most folks think the ruger vaqueros and a 73 are about the best. Whichever caliber you like but most like em to match. I like 38/357 and some others do too. And short barrels on the revolvers, Under 6 inch. Long barrels sure look cool but they draw slow. At one time a marlin and a couple blackhawks were a good starter kit. Demand and supply has made that a bit pricy. When you go to a few matches to watch and learn, take a camera and pen and 3x5 cards to record what you like and might want to copy. Many have a deep interest in the old west even without SASS. Try before you buy, don't be too afraid of used gear if its well cared for.
