Cold Lake Kid, SASS # 51474
One of my uncles was there. Lied about his age, joined the Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry Highlanders, and went over as a bugler in 1916. A year later, in 1917, he was a gunner (Machine Gunner) and was awarded the MM, (Military Medal) He was 17 then. Gassed once, but re-enlisted in September 1939 when WWII broke out and served as an instructor.
Cyrus Cassidy #45437
My great-grandfather had been drafted, gone through basic training, etc. and deployed to England for a big offensive. The armistice was signed before he saw combat. It's too bad my grandfather, father, myself, brother, and sister didn't get the same luck!
