Trailrider #896 Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 People think of Hell as being hot. For the Marines and some Army troops at the Chosin Reservoir, hell was a series of raging battles with temperatures and chill factors at -20 deg. F and worse! We have few of the Chosin Few out in Denver. God Bless them!
Lost Trail Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 I spent a year in Korea (C Co, 2/72 Armor, 2nd I.D., Camp Casey) in 1982-83. I knew there was a problem when getting our TA50 issue. In one line we were issued Nomex light weight uniforms, extra canteen and other gear for hot, humid climates. In the next line we were issued extreme arctic gear. That place is hell, summer and winter. Plus the stench never leaves. I can't even begin to imagine what our troops went through over there during the Korea War and Chosin. I saw pictures of Chosin at the 2nd I.D. museum when I was there since Casey was 2nd I.D. HQ. Beyond comprehension.
