Jailmaker
I have recently acquired a set of open top pistols with the Richards/Mason conversion cartridge cylinders. I have heard about folks heating up and bending the hammer spur down. The guns point really nice, but the hammer is a little difficult to reach shooting one handed. OK now to the question, is it legal to cut the hammer spurs off of a pair of super Blackhawk hammers and weld them on to the open top hammers? Jackaroo, # 29989
Doesn't that come under 'external modification'?
PaleWolf Brunelle, #2495L
Doesn't that come under 'external modification'? YES...but that is an APPROVED modification: Ruger Super Blackhawk/Montado style revolver hammers (i.e. lowered and widened hammers) are acceptable on both adjustable and fixed sight model revolvers. Colorado Coffinmaker
Rather than Ruger SBH hammers, you may want to consider the wide lo-profile hammers from Uberti as your donors. Coffinmaker
Charlie Whiskers
I shoot duelist. I have 2 51 RM's a 72 and a 60 Army....I like variety...lol. I had my gunsmith heat and lower the hammer spurs on all 4. Sure made a difference.
