Caliope Cupcake #13981 Posted September 17, 2016 Posted September 17, 2016 Mercy, it's been 3 days since Fb blocked my webpage. The site put me through several steps when I tried to log on. The first one said something to the effect "we don't think this is your real name" and please provide 2 scanned copies of your picture ID and 1-2 others [library card, etc.] with your name. I use my first and last names with SASS alias as my middle name. There are all kinds of bogus names on there--What the freak? I thought it was a scam and still am not sure. I sent a copy of my driver license and SASS card. They sent me emails saying they'll reopen my page after all has been reviewed. There is no way to contact anyone at Fb to find out. Has this happened to anyone? What to do?
Marshal Mo Hare, SASS #45984 Posted September 17, 2016 Posted September 17, 2016 Color me "Suspicious"
Shawnee McGrutt Posted September 17, 2016 Posted September 17, 2016 What are you posting, to get blocked? I would be suspicious (like the Marshal said) I know a few people that use aliases on Facebook, with no problems.
Muleshoe Bill SASS #67022 Posted September 17, 2016 Posted September 17, 2016 Google it... lots of stories about FB doing this.
Rye Miles #13621 Posted September 17, 2016 Posted September 17, 2016 Yep, had a friend this same thing happened to!
Sedalia Dave Posted September 17, 2016 Posted September 17, 2016 What you are experiencing happens all the time on FB. Think of it as a random audit that you agreed to. You have no right to redress because FB is a private entity that is also happens to be a de-facto monopoly Welcome to the beginning of the elimination of the 1st amendment. For better or worse (much worse in IMNSHO) FB has become a major source of news and information that now censors what it feels like. 99% of this censorship occurs covertly via social engineering. Just wait till they remove parts of your page because it is deemed "inappropriate". When you complain they will just eliminate your page and ignore you. .
Yul Lose Posted September 17, 2016 Posted September 17, 2016 Yes it happened to me and I refuse to supply them with two pieces of government issued picture ID and I will not submit to a FB moderator approving each post I make.
Hardpan Curmudgeon SASS #8967 Posted September 17, 2016 Posted September 17, 2016 Don' worry, Calliope... WE still luv you.
Caliope Cupcake #13981 Posted September 17, 2016 Author Posted September 17, 2016 thanx pards! I think if it is reopened, I will retrieve my pix from there and delete it
Blackwater 53393 Posted September 17, 2016 Posted September 17, 2016 tell them to osculate your posterior and move on!!
Caliope Cupcake #13981 Posted September 17, 2016 Author Posted September 17, 2016 Blacky they already did that and no lube--however, I am shocked to see they reopened page with my real name AND ALIAS but in parenthesis
Subdeacon Joe Posted September 18, 2016 Posted September 18, 2016 I got a 12 hour ban once because I asked a question on an anti-gun page. Asked why they never, ever, mentioned successful defensive gun use. That, apparently, was abusive and not within terms of service. Every time I reported threats of death and violence against me, or NRA members, or gun owners, I got back a reply that these were within the TOS and did not violate community standards.

You have no right to redress because FB is a private entity that is also happens to be a de-facto monopoly Welcome to the beginning of the elimination of the 1st amendment. It's totally a private company and has nothing to do with the 1st Amendment. There's lots of ways to communicate on the internet that have nothing to do with Facebook. I've never been on FB and never will be. Can't see I've missed anything at all.

Cat Brules Posted September 18, 2016 Posted September 18, 2016 I created a page at the request of a friend who relocated to Seattle, and later, the east coast. She wanted to stay in touch. My page is a bare-bones outline, which I do not update. Based on that, I have heard from many old friends and acquaintances who I have lost touch with. So, I rarely use Facebook, other than as an interface for contact between old friends and myself. I do not use Facebook as a means to communicate, other than to connect intentially.
Rye Miles #13621 Posted September 18, 2016 Posted September 18, 2016 I'll have to stick up for Facebook, I enjoy it and it's a way that I can keep in touch with out of town relatives and friends. It's all about who you "follow" and keeping out of discussions with people you don't know! There are "closed" groups that I like too, Reloading Central, Dillon reloading, Wild West, Colt SAA's, and many more......
