SGT. QUINCANNON, SASS #32999
Hello to All, I'm trying to remember the name of a man who lost all his money when a bank in Sacramento failed in about 1855, and he rode all the way to Portland, OR to withdraw his money from a branch of the bank there before word reached that branch of the bank closure. I think his first name was Louis, and his last name started with the letter R. Louis L'Amour wrote a short story based on this true incident, and a classic Maverick episode, "Two Beggars on Horseback" was also loosely based on it. Thanks for your time.
