What's YOUR Dream?

Recommended Posts

I've often dreamed:

if I could sing, I would want to sing like Ronnie Millsapp or BJ Thomas.

if I were an actor, I would want to be 'GUS' in Lonesome Dove.

If I could have lived anytime during history (as we know it), it would be either during the time of Christ, Revolutionary War, or WWII.

I dream of seeing my grandsons grow up happy and successful!!

After that I dream of maybe a "Top Forty" Single, just so's me and the guys could tour and perform in front of bigger crowds. Playing is a gas!! Not having to worry about paying the bills while you're on the road is tops!!

Did my dream come true

REAL Republicans, not the weak-kneed make-believe, showoffs we've seen lately. Honest-to-John-Wayne conservative REPUBLICANS so my grandson can grow up in something other than what we're headed for now.

My life has pretty much exceeded my expectations so far. Successful career, wonderful wife, friends and family. I guess winning the lottery and being independently wealthy might be nice to see how much good I could do with it and set my family for life.

Chili without the gas....

That the last 8 years of Presidency were a bad dream....

My dream would have been to explore the unknown and the untamed.

Though I would have likely died young, the era of Daniel Boone through the Mexican war has always fascinated me. Going over Cumberland Gap into the great game preserve known as the Ohio River Valley, exploring with Lewis and Clark, then came the mountain men and trappers, the annexation of Texas.....fascinating times.

I'm livin my dream. Retired 16 years, living in the country on my own place with my wife of 52 years. Reasonably good health, no real money worries. Get to fish, go shooting or just do nuthin any day of the week. Hunt every year, have a reasonably new rv, boat & truck.

What else could I as for.

To actually retire. Go fishing, go to as many shoots as possible. Do the Wednesday ole-coots shoot again like when I first retired. Another year and a half, I told everyone then I quit and gonna retire period and do what I want. Travel across the United States if they exist after November. More woodworking. Lot of other things.

You and my wife must never meet.

My immediate dream is to walk without pain. It's gotten worse the past few weeks, I've barely been able to get around my house this week.

My more outlandish dreams would be to have a sailboat that I can live aboard and to sail around the world exploring things that I'd never have a chance to see otherwise. I'd love to swim with sharks. Dive the great reefs of the world. I'd like to see the sun rise and set on an uninhabited island in the South Pacific.

I'd love a decent job.

Dreams....I've got lots of them...

Many seem to start out with winning the lottery....

Retiring the second the check clears...

Buying a nice truck and trailer and touring the country playing cowboy...

Hosting an all expenses paid match (including travel and lodging allowance) for a bunch of my cowboy and cowgirl friends some of which I've never met in person...

Health and happiness for those in my life...

and the list goes on...

On a slightly more realistic note, a vehicle that wasn't 18 years old with more creaks and groans that I have would be nice.

Seriously though, I have led a very blessed and mostly happy life thus far. I have all I need, some of what I wish for, and have had a lot of years to enjoy with family and friends.

After reflecting on some of your dreams, it appears that I am already living the dream. I just hope nobody wakes me up.

Wow... This would have the makings of a very long list for me.

Since it was mentioned, when I daydream about winning the lottery, I end up not dreaming of wild over the top stuff. Instead, I dream of:

Restoring my old car to like new condition, despite the fact that doing so would cause some to question my sanity. It's a 2002 Dodge Neon R/T, the first car I ever bought new. I would do the same with my 2008 Toyota Tundra, except I would modify it into the camping / off-road / fun vehicle I've dreamed of since day one of owning it. Maybe adding some others to the mix, if just as a daily driver.

Having a "Man Cave" of my own, where I can work on and display model cars and airplanes, clean the guns that I would have for cowboy action (and other things), and a spot to reload ammo (after learning how, of course). And go "off grid" to the extent possible.

Learning to fly. Probably my biggest regret is not ever doing so. I would want a Grumman Tiger painted up in WWII Hellcat livery or perhaps a Cessna Skymaster in the black military livery.

Oh, and a motorhome or travel trailer to go to Quarter Horse shows and SASS shoots with Mrs. Doc.

As for the dreams like the OP:

I would want to play guitar like Jimmy Page, bass like Geddy Lee, drums like Neil Peart or John Bonham (Not going to be picky there!) and sing like Freddie Mercury.

If I were an actor, I'd want to play in lots of westerns, preferably as the good guy most of the time. Maybe the occasional sic-fi movie.

Time period is more of a challenge. Since we're dreaming, I think I would prefer to travel time and watch as a fly on the wall, instead of live through it. I kind of like my modern amenities like medicine, toilet paper and the like. Push come to shove, though, perhaps the pre-revolution / revolution period, preferably with my Scots-Irish ancestors in Appalachia. Take a trip to King's Mountain to have a "talk" with Ferguson. Or, of course, go west after the Civil War.

In my dream I beat Whiskey Rick in a heads up all out cowboy shoot. WR I am still dreaming/ GW

For my wife to be happy and content, and have full use of her hands and arms again.

Sometimes we don't need to look far to realize how fortunate we are.

...more money doesn't hit the mark with me as I would just blow it... ^_^

howsumever; the following hits the mark with me:

  1. Influence politics enough to reverse the state of decline in my country – start giving freedoms back instead of taking them away, start raising our standard of living instead of forcing its decline.
  2. Watch Olympic hockey live – all the medal rounds!
  3. Build a Calvin & Hobbes style snowman scene
  4. Get elected into congress with a party I can support (will need to start a new one if it doesn’t first appear…)

Your house is right here in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Four bedroom, two bath, fenced yard and a shed for Buick to sleep in. Point any direction and a club is an hour away. Right now there is a family of four in it but we can be packed and ready to leave in a week. Joann's is two minutes away. $110,000.00

Except for the Arizona Monsoon season the air is generally drier than a popcorn fart. Had a mite of rain the last two or three days, but not much.

Oh! We consider ourselves truly blessed. We hit rock bottom a few years back. But now we have, as far as creature comforts, pretty much exactly what we realized we wanted. We. for doing about a month of elder-care for my ex-wife's mother-in-law, a nice two bedroom, two bath double-wide in a very nice, quite, adult park (the agreement was be it two weeks or two years, we looked out for the lady and stayed here rent free then, when she passed, we got the mobile home). I have a decent paying job, SS disability finally came through for Lisa at the start of this year. We can pay all our bills on time. We can stash a little away each month, and we are able to splurge a little now and then.

The only real fly in the gravy is her physical condition.

But we both are fairly happy and content. And blessed.
