Just received the Pietta 1851 Capt Schaeffer .36 polished steel engraved 3.5" #46.

Very beautiful.

It feels really heavy compared to the Pietta 1851 US Marshal .44 polished steel engraved 4 7/8".

I thought the shorter barrel and .36 caliber would be a lot lighter, but I guess it is heavier because there is more metal remaining in the .36 barrel. Maybe the white grips are heavier, too.

The engraving on the cylinder is very faint and hard to see even with a magnifying glass, but the engraving on the barrel and frame is very nice.

Also, the Capt Schaeffer's hammer and trigger have a much much heavier feel out of the box.

The 1851 US Marshal has a better balanced feel and good hammer/trigger out of the box.

Couldn't afford two of each, so I am glad I can experience one of each...the US Marshal and the Capt Schaeffer.

I think Pietta ought to come out with the "Coffinmaker Special" ... a 3" 1851 US Marshal .44 version with fluted cylinders and white grips. I think that is the best looking version of all. See post # 39 by Dawg of Coffinmaker's pride & joy.

P.S. Dawg, would you mind posting both pictures of Coffinmaker's 1851 Capt Schaeffers below?

Dawg, Thanks for posting the pictures of the1851 Capt Schaeffer .36 3.5" below.

Cents this post started buck in May, I now have 5 Snubbies 3 44's and 2 36's .

Coffin Maker did his magic to all 5.

And I also have a pairs of Long Hunters 36's with 5 1/2 barrels.

Like has been said by Coffin Maker and Dawg there ain't nothing funner than shootin Gun fighter

with the Snubbies.

Which make/model guns did you get?

Which ones are your favorite? Why?

Are there more Cowboys in your shooting group that shoot C&B?

I ended up with 4 Pietta snubbies, one from Midway one off the wire and 2 from Coffin maker.(my favorite by far)

cause they are thunder grips and 44 caliber.

And 1 snubbie Uberti from Dawg.

Then the 2 Piettas from Long Hunter.

Yes there are more cap gun shooters here.

As previously stated Chapman Ks is hosting the Kansas Black powder championship.

Same as last year.

And it looks like Frontiersman will probably be the largest group.
