The Polish Pistolero Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 I'm curious! I know I could trim the trigger spring on a Uberti '66 Yellowboy, or shim it with a washer or a piece of leather like a hammer spring on a SAA! My question is, does somebody make a commercial option of a lightened trigger spring? I've got all the other buzzers and whistles already in it, and the trigger is a bit heavy! It pulls and breaks at 5-6 pounds when cocked, and pulls at 4-5 lbs. not cocked! I'm use to it the way it is, but just looking at options! Anybody know of an outlet for a part that's already been lightened?
Cowboy Junky Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 I just backed mine out until I liked it and used locktite on the threads.

Garrison Joe, SASS #60708 Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 Haven't seen one lightened available commercially. I just hourglass the factory spring to take off about 25% of the width. Lightens up quick. Good luck, GJ

I think the little spring should have a market for them in our sport! Some SMITH should make one that is bolt on!
Colorado Coffinmaker Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 Practically speaking, for the way we use our rifles, I light trigger doesn't mean much. Perhaps a personal preference. In the majority of guns, with the majority of shooters, a light trigger for CAS is a liability. Coffinmaker

Garrison Joe, SASS #60708 Posted May 14, 2016 Posted May 14, 2016 Any smith doing a trigger job knows how to lighten the spring in a minute. On most Uberti toggle guns (66s, 73s), it's not the trigger spring that is adding pull weight to the trigger, it's a very positive angle of engagement which requires the upper trigger and hammer notch to both need to be recut to a neutral angle of engagement. Therefore, just selling a lighter spring won't "cut it", so to speak. Good luck, GJ

I'm a mechanic, and feeler gauges are malleable!

My pull is 4-5 lbs. with the hammer down, and 5-6 with it cocked!

Cypress Sam, SASS #10915 Posted May 15, 2016 Posted May 15, 2016 To make a wire trigger spring for a 66, bend a piece if spring wire in a "U" shape and trim the two ends to fit on the trigger.
Jabez Cowboy,SASS # 50129 Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 I make a long "U" shape with the top almost closed in by bending the top arms of the "U" at right angles towards the center... Jabez Cowboy
