Shot timers

So I'm about to order a shot timer. So my decision comes down to the Pro Shot or the Pro Shot 2. Every club I've ever shot at uses the Pro Shot and I know how it works. I think I've heard people having problems with the Pro Shot 2 but I can't remember what they were. So which one should I get?

I own a Pro Shot II and never had a problem with it. Then again I only use it for personal training. Its my understanding from online research that the original Pro Shot has a better battery connection with the plug that goes on the 9 volt battery. There have been some reports that the "drop in" battery terminals on the Pro Shot II are inferior and can cause a bad connection. I have yet to experience this problem though.

When I made this decision years ago..
I picked the Pro Shot II.. I liked the blue coloring better.. :)
Naw... I like the idea of the Pro II having the "Par" timing feature..
Helped be better my times back when I practiced diligently..

Also has the random start delayed time...
Also the clubs around here all used the regular Pro Shot.. Light gray coloring..
Might save a little confusion on which is mine.. BLUE... Mighty purty..

Rance ;)
Thinkin it is a mighty purty color tho.. :)

Here are a couple of video reviews:

The instruction manual for the Pocket Pro shows that you can change the par time.

I prefer the PACT timer because it is easier to review a shot string because it shows shot time, shot number and split without having to press as many buttons as the Competition units. But I have had to replace my PACT time twice in 8 years, so I don't know if the Competition units last better.

Coyote,

I bought a Pro shot a long time ago,,,,,, worked great. I've been having battery problems lately though. I've gotten older and it seems like when the beep goes off by the time I'm done shooting,,,,,, the battery's dead. Can't figure it out.?????

my home club uses the pact, we've had a bunch of them and will be moving away from them, in my opinion the pocket pro 2 timer is the easiest to use and the easiest to review splits ( Ive had a pocket pro 2 for close to 10 yrs now no problems)

to review splits you just push the up and down arrows , its that easy

If the timer is for personal use and you have a iPad or iPhone I'd recommend the App "ShotTimer".

I actually have the IPSC timer for Android. The performance has been so-so. The reason I want to go with a timer is because I bought a new camcorder and it has the wireless feature that I can control it with my phone. I can't run both apps at the same time because it disconnects the camcorder. My birthday is this week so I can get a timer discounted at Midway USA.
