Howdy!! Randingo here. Just wanted to introduce myself. I am new to Cowboy Action and have shot the last two matches with the Chisum Cowboys in Roswell NM. Showed up to their February match just to check it out and met Tapadero John. He explained the stages as I watched. Several shooters introduced themselves including Boggus Deal who encouraged me to strap on his gear and shoot the last stage. That set the hook pretty deep. I now have all my own gear except for a cart. Never understood addiction until now!

A huge thanks to Tapadero John, Short Shot Polly, Boggus Deal, Two Bit Tammy, Whizbang and ALL the Chisum Cowboys!

Howdy and welcome to the fun!

I got hooked much the same way, just went out to watch, I even declined the first couple of times folks offered me guns to shoot, but by the end of the match they'd got me to shoot a couple of stages and that was all it took.

Put the word out at the local club that you need a cart, might be someone with an old one to sell cheap or a loaner until you buy or build your own.

Have fun!

Randingo I'm over in Alamogordo and have a off the wall cart that I had custom made several years ago prior to nov 200gunther was a friend and he built me a special cart. It wasn't cheap being custom iirc I paid over $700 for it at the time. It was in a vehicle rollover in 09 and picked up so dings scratches and chips. The removable box was laser engraved with my aliases so it would have ti be covered over. It's extra tall with a pull out box so you can hide a brace of revolvers order the inner box or use it to store the waterproof cover out of the way. It holds five long guns and has two boxes for storing odds and ends one up top by the handle the other down lower. There was a mixup there between us I wanted two boxes up top that I could swap out. At the time I was shooting cap and ball and was going to setup one box for that and the other for wild bunch and cartridge CAS use. I never got the cooler frame that was to be mounted down low, it has solid rubber tires. Some laser endgraving down the sides of the up rights . It might have some hook on it for hanging things I don't remember. Concidering what I got in it andd the damage from the rollover and covering my aliases up I'll take $350 obo. If your interested I might be able to try and make a match that way or meet you in Ruidoso for you to look at it. It's real nice and has many years of use in it. My health made me use an electric scooter for most of the time I had it and another cart that was mounted to the scooter. I now have a ranger from Polaris and a rugged gun cart that I tow Behind it at the larger matches. If your interested pm or email me and I'll give you my phone to call.

Welcome Randingo.

If you are handy with wood and/or metal, building your own cart is part of the game. I tool a alot of photos of carts. I built three before I was satisfied. I have since built a fourth (smaller day shoot) cart and several loaners for other clubs. It is a Goldilocks thing, not too big or small.

There is nothing wrong with a ready-to-go purchased cart. Many cowboys get good service out of them. I just prefer making, using and seeing homemade carts.

You lucked out and got hooked up with one of the best. Glad to hear you had a great time and hope it continues for years to come. Welcome to the club.

The Chisum Cowboys have a nice range and have dedicated leadership. You also have a local source of cast bullets. You have a good home club. Do try to make EOT and the State Match in ABQ this year. Both will be worth the trip. Before you buy a cart take a look at Rugged Gear. Once you push one you will appreciate their popularity.

Welcome aboard. I have not even been at it a year yet and having moved slightly from dead last to nearly dead last I can tell you I am still grinning from ear to ear each time.

Each time out I compete with myself, did I shoot a little cleaner, did I get a little faster, did my transitions get a little smoother.

Boggus Deal...back me up Buddy!!!!😉

Randingo...

They say this, due to the sign Shanley Shooter needs to carry.

It needs to say " I appologize now, for my wifes' behavior!"

I have been known to stir it up!!!

Allie Mo. I am a sitt'in. I Grew up in Colorado and joined the USMC in 1983 a year after high school. Spent ten years with Uncle Sam and parted ways in 1993. An injury to a team mate lead me into the medical field where I continue working as a Surgical Nurse. I now travel selling myself to the highest bidder. Current high bidder is Lovelace Hospital in Roswell. I am married and have two boy in college.

I love shooting sports and spent most of my military time shooting at things far away. I really enjoy the Cowboy action. Hope to see you all down range some day.

And yes, I've done my fair share of shooting at Aliens.
