Augustus Goodnight Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 Personal Choice.... A brace of 1848 Dragoons, an 1860 Henry and a 1878 Hammered SxS. Or if you're really looking for something beyond the norm, how about a Evans Repeating Rifle? Now that would be something really different. Though finding one and the ammo to go with it could be a real challenge.
Prairie Dawg, SASS #50329 Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 YeeHaw Mister Goodnight -- now that's a great set of irons!!!

Geez-O-Man, There's Some Style Points Right There! You & Allie Mo, With Yer Lightnings & '87s -- Wowsers! Hey! You should come to our state match. Info is on the following site. http://www.californiagunslingers.com/ If you can't make it, tell your son to be there. After all, I still have his loading block. Besides, I know a lot of No. Nevada people and can introduce him. They support us! BTW the only Lightening we have is a .45 rifle and I've never shot it. Hubby thinks it's a PIB. I think he should send it to Lassiter. Hope to see you soon. Let me know when you or your son will be around. Allie
Chantry Posted March 31, 2016 Posted March 31, 2016 How about a London made (circa 1872-1874) 12g SxS with Damascus barrels and with a Jones under lever used to open it.? Two Pietta cap & ball 1858's and an old Navy Arms 1866 get used with it.
Prairie Dawg, SASS #50329 Posted March 31, 2016 Posted March 31, 2016 Zowie Chantry -- Very Cool battery you've got there. Lotsa Style points in New England! Hopefully shoot with ya someday soon!
Doc McCoy, SASS #8381 Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 A Walker in my right hand (full charge), an 1860 Avenging Angel (snubbie) in my left, 1866 in 38/40 and an original Colt 1878 10 ga. All Real Black of course.
H. K. Uriah, SASS #74619 Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 Those of us here in New England, in spite of living in an area that is very unfriendly to gun owners in half of the states of the region, tend to have a lot of really cool stuff. I already posted a pic of my main "style points" battery, but some would say that what I'll be shooting at End of the Trail has some style going for it. The pistols will be as follows... Colt 4-3/4" 3rd Generation that was my father's, .45 Colt ASM clone. 5.5" .45 Colt (The most boring of the battery) But here is where the style comes in... Rifle: AWA Lightning in .45 Colt. Shotgun: Orignal Winchester 97, with a 30" full choke barrel. The pistols are not all that unusual, but the long guns always raise a few eyebrows when I use them, especially at a big match because I consider these to be guns that I am at my best with.
Prairie Dawg, SASS #50329 Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 Doc: WOW!!! I'd love to see you shootin' them pistols! Bet there's lotsa Smoke & Boom! And the 10 Gauge!!!!!! Style points abound when you walk to the line!!! HK: Lightnings are cool guns -- Fun to watch folks use them And one that runs in a straight case caliber -- Don't see many around here. Love that 30" '97 -- Reach out & touch the targets! Style, Style Style!!! --Dawg
Warden Callaway Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 Baker 10 gauge double hammer gun, Pietta 51 Navy Confederate 44s sheriff models with brass frame, Marlin 1894 32-20 made in 1900. Black in shotgun and 51s, BlackMZ in rifle.
Blackey Cole Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 Style points a S&W Scholdfield, a S&W Russian, a colt lighting pump rifle and a Winchester 1887 lever shotgun. Or the copies. It's the major guns of the time that don't get shot normally except the 87 is gaining ground that's to gunsmiths like coyote cap and Lassiter. I remember at one time Lassiter was shooting a pump rifle and lever shotgun and did very well now if he would have changed to S&W revolvers it would have really been something. Lassiter has two sets of revolvers of mine getting them ready to shoot. One was Ruger Bisleys that I wanted the transfer bar removed, shortstroked with a half cock added so they match my Wes flowers Rugers. The other set are UBERTI scholdfields that I wanted him to slick up as they were very rough T out of the box like most UBERTIs. Once I get those back when I'm not shooting cc because of the caliber of the S&W copies I'll shoot them to see how accurate I ban be with them but nothing will compare to my USFA SAAs.
