For those of us that use the base commissaries for your shopping...Have you noticed selfs not stocked as much....Out of things to often...Just asking, wife did our monthly at the marine base in Oceanside...She says they are our of many things or just not stocking them like they use to...Some thoughts, if you are noticing the same...

Keesler AFB - Biloxi, MS

Wife was in there two weeks ago and said everything seemed as it usually is.

Unfortunately for us, the commissary is 25 miles one way from us while Costco & Sam's Club is about 45 miles the other way. We usually only visit each location once a month.

My daughter and her retired Marine husband live less than a mile from one of the north Pendleton gates. They do about half their shopping there, half at Costco.

The only thing they don't get there is one or two "specialty" items from a liquor store in Oceanside.

Commissaries have been going down lately. For weekly shopping we use Wal Mart as the prices are better even with no tax. (The sales tax equals the surcharge at a commissary) For MEat and other large stuff, COSTCO is closer or us and easier. Commissary meat has been going down hill as well as their produce if you do not get there on delivery day.

I have not used the commissary since I retired 10 years ago. Hill AFB is 135 miles from home here in central Utah. Costco is 40 miles away, and Wal Mart is just up the road. As Col. Lou says and I agree, the commissary,s are more expensive than Wal Mart. And that's a shame as they are suppose to be one of our benefits that we earned.

I live 20 minutes from Patrick AFB on the Central FL coast; great Commissary! Well stocked with lots of European items, Hoss

Ft. Polk commissary here near Leesville La. seems to be stocked very well but you do have to look for sales to find real good prices.

Pard, I've been in the army for 22 years and counting. To date, I don't think I've ever seen a commissary or PX that could even come close to its off-post competition.
