I don't usually get excited about drinks; I can take it or leave it.

 

But I was at a new farm-to-table restaurant tonight, and asked the waiter for a Bailey's after dinner. He explained that they did not have Bailey's, but promised me something "even better".

 

He returned with a glass containing a "custom Irish cream" made at the whim of the bartender for "special" customers. He would not give me the precise recipe, but I did learn that it included fresh heavy cream (right from the farm today), espresso (double pressed?), and Irish whiskey, poured over an absolutely clear cube of ice.

 

I will never drink Bailey's or any other similar bottled drink again; it was like drinking sweet Irish clouds!

 

I have a favorite new restaurant. And a new best friend who's a bartender.
