McCandless
Danged good movie. One of the greatest car chase scenes ever filmed... and the bad guy in the Charger is shooting a '97 ! What's not to like??

Bad Hand
As I recall, when the two bad guys go up to the hotel room, the one with the '97 takes both the barrel and receiver out of his coat and assembles them.
Texas Lizard
Put your driving gloves on! If I remember right Steve drove his own car... TL
J-BAR #18287
Didja ever count the number of gear shifts Bullitt makes in that Mustang while chasing the bad guys? I have forgotten the number, but his clutch needing changing after that sequence!! I agree, terrific movie. Makes you want to buy a Diamondback snubbie, doesn't it. Cyrus Cassidy #45437
Yep. Gearheads still reference the car chase.
Abilene Slim SASS 81783
If I remember right Steve drove his own car... TL He did a scene or two, but was unable to handle the more difficult parts, so they had a stunt driver do most of it. I noticed the same VW bug was in each of the scenes where the cars were slamming down the streets. That whole chase scene would require some pretty intense coordination and choreography. Injun Ryder, SASS #36201L
Had a '67 Mustang GTA fastback with a 390 in it when that movie came out. Talk about pressure!
Dutch Wheeler
Watch how many times the Green VW Bug gets blown by in the big chase scene !
Chili Ron
Howdy, I gotta git me onea dees. Ford has built two tribute mustangs. Im thinking of buying or building one. Im thinking an 08 or 09 in dark green with as many details like the bullit car as practical. Note Steves car didn't have the Bullit insignia....so no such for me. I would like to get the wheels just right. And way sticky tires. And recaro seats. And yes a stick shift. Best CR
Jimmy Reb, SASS #54804
I think that many years ago I counted wheel covers off the charger- there were more than 5. Also read a magizine article about the filming. They stated that they had to hold back on the charger so the mustang could keep up.
Chili Ron
Howdy, Its not only how many wheel covers but WHICH wheels they come from.... This was my FIRST home movie. First vcr movie I bought after I bought a vcr---only $825 or $850...thereabouts. And not a Cloud to be seen on the horizon. Best CR
