I. M. Crossdraw, SASS# 8321 Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 I've been dry firing practicing gunfighter and I seem to naturally lead with my left hand! (I'm right handed.) Maybe it's because I always shoot from the left to right unless the stage calls for right to left. I think you should probably start with the hand that gives you the advantage depending on how the stage is written. Any comments from you gunfighters?? --Rye Rye, I knew something is wrong about you, you just don't know which side to start with
CodyMaverick Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 say you have a five target sweep,,,if you start on the right, do so with right gun, that way the 5th shot is right gun, and the left gun can automatically head for #1 as the 5th shot is being fired. The first time that happens automatically you will always remember that moment. I'm guessing you meant to say "if you start on the left"
Rye Miles #13621 Posted January 20, 2016 Author Posted January 20, 2016 I'm guessing you meant to say "if you start on the left" No it actually works out like he said. Start on the right and you end up shooting #5 with the RH then you're right there with your LH for #1.
Palo Verde, SASS # 56522 Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Mr. Miles, The best instruction for shooting Gunfighter I have ever seen is here: http://www.uniquetek.com/site/696296/product/T1425 Teddy Bear does an excellent job of discussing just what you ask.

Start on the right and you end up shooting #5 with the RH then you're right there with your LH for #1. I'm going with Cody on this one. You're either pushing the guns or crossing over needlessly doing it that way. There is a more efficient way by leading left when starting on the right. Your transitions are faster and you don't have to cross over on the way back. Cody is a very good gunfighter, nice guy and going places if he keeps it up.

Carolina Gunslinger Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 I'm not saying you're wrong by any stretch pard. I just see a left gun waiting to fire instead of moving as the right gun fires that way. Gunfighter sure is awesome! Now if we could only run at the same time as we shoot...thennit would be epic!
