Wolfgang, SASS #53480
Some years back at the Sherriff's facility in Banning . . . . the head count was one too high. It was found that a homeless guy had snuck in. Got a jail jump suit . . was living in one of the barracks with the inmates. Getting himself three hots and a cot. Cat Brules
Guy was lookin for a free ride and to hang with a bunch of guys, sounds like. Weird, and a bit creepy, I think. He doesn't seem to have attempted, as many have, to pass himself off as a decorated war hero, gaining fame and plaudits. He wasn't being paid, so money wasn't an issue(?). Was he working a job off-base? Hmmm. Too much we don't know. I'm Interested enough now to go looking. They turned him loose probably because he posed no threat and seemed reasonably easy to scoop up again if need be, is my guess. Probably now focusing on how security can be tightened up. Someone there has good sense, sounds like: don't assign blame and punishment...fix the problem and grow from it instead.
John Barleycorn, SASS #76982
This guy must have really been able to talk the talk, and walk the walk, to fool the real SF soldiers for that long. Maybe he had some prior service? I too hope the investigation is through and leads to fixes.

An individual with no business being there, managed to infiltrate the compound of an elite military unit and remain there for some time. Thankfully he's probably just a lucky goofball.......but it isn't good. Actions will be taken.

Thankfully he's probably just a lucky goofball.......but it isn't good. Actions will be taken. This is exactly what I was thinking. There's going to be some SERIOUS re-training on security in that unit. Be lucky if a head or two doesn't roll.

Thankfully he's probably just a lucky goofball.......but it isn't good. Actions will be taken. OF COURSE that's the issue! Fixing the hole without having to hold "our" collective thumb in it, pretty much has to be happening right now. But, laying waste is senseless. Chopping off heads all the way up the line, through the NCO's, the line officers and through command isn't going to solve anything. What hopefully WILL happen (now that we're discussing), is that the incompetent are identified instead of them being insulated and assigning blame to sacrificial cows. We don't know enough to have formed a competent opinion beyond what we think SHOLD happen. My guess right now is, they are at the panic and hysteria stage, but are rapidly gathering momentum to roll through to the praise, plaudits rewards and promotions stage for the non-participating, undeserving REMF's. This will fall off the radar after a few news cycles is my SWAG......I have, on rare occasion :-) however, been wrong. - Cat Brules -

Boon Doggle
Hell. The incompetent will be promoted. Addendum: just look at the VA.
Blastmaster
Bar coded-photo ID for all, with manned scanner check stations at key internal/external entrance points throughout the facility. If bar-code doesn't compute, then a reject and further ID process.
