Obama referenced 'mass shootings', not mass killings or number of people killed in mass killing acts. Weasel wording? Maybe. Probably. Is it legitimate? Depends. With mass shooting, he is probably relying on ShootingTracker.com. This site tracks published incidents where a gun was used, remember this is all about that evil gun, and 4 or more people were injured or killed (the perpetrator(s) included). This is not what the FBI tracks, or any other government. Is it legitimate? That is hotly debated. The Lott article is a good reference to have available as it counters a lot of misinformation and brings together a lot of information that is hard for the layman to gather. Link to comment
