All the videos so far are from our November monthly match at The Cowboys of Norco and specifically of the best posse ever, Posse 2! It provides enough shade for a family. Super good hand held camera work. Tell us about your camera and how you get such stable shots. Tough to shoot into the sun and still get good results. If you put "cowboy action shooting" in the titles and or in the video description, you'll get more hits on YouTube searches. It's not too much work to make a generic description and cut/paste from one video to the next. You could add your YouTube channel link to your profile. The camera is a GoPro Hero 4 Session. The reason the shots are so stable is that when I upload to Youtube, I use their camera stability editing feature, it works great. That's also the reason you sometimes see the image warp a bit. I just got the camera and I'm still learning about it. The view is so wide you really have to get up close and personal so that it doesn't look like we are a mile away. Thanks for the great advice too! Speed E. Quote

Warden Callaway Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 I use two inexpensive action cams set on tripods out in the downrange looking back. I did use a Sony Handycam for hand held when shooting from behind the stage but it couldn't shoot at the same proportion and quality as the action cams so I quit using it and started using my Samsung smart phone. It is harder to shoot stable shots. I have stabilizing software in the editing software I use. I made up examples with and without stabilization and Mary liked the unstable version better - for reasios I can't remember now. I'm aware of the YouTube stabilization feature but didn't use it on my hand held shots. I may go back and give it a try. Looks like you have a dedicated camera operator. That's a lot better than than the way Griz and I are set up trying to get video and participate in the shooting. Quote

I build videos from 8 to 20 minutes long - usually one stage per video. I'm not sure if my audience likes it better than just putting up singles. Nobody has commented either way. It's more work and takes longer a long time (at our internet speed) to upload to YouTube. Quote

I personally prefer single videos so that I can watch specific shooters that I am looking for, which are usually the faster shooters that shoot in the same category as me, so that I can learn from them. I don't think I would enjoy scrubbing through a long video trying to find those specific shooters. Speed E. Quote
