Abilene Slim SASS 81783 Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 Wow, bleak game game for Denver. I'm ok with it since the Chiefs appear to breaking a long drought against the Broncos. Despite passing Farve today as the all-time leader in everything as a q-back, Peyton is showing his age. We all know those hits hurt more, take longer to recover from and take a bigger toll at 40 years old. Not knocking Manning in anyway shape or form. He's going to be a first round hall of famer. But the question remains: who does Denver have to step in his shoes next year (or this)? Is it Ossweiler?
Calico Mary Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 rite now all we got is Osweiler....not shur ifn' he's tha answer or not.....
Badger Mountain Charlie SASS #43172 Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 I think Denver won today. They tried just a bit harder than KC to lose the game. Outside of the score, neither team had much to brag about today. And in light of Denver's efforts I don't think KC should brag about the score either. I watched the game until they switched it over to New England and New York. I see where Denver scored a TD after that. I guess any team can have a bad day. But to see two teams playing each other on a bad day for both is unusual. I see where the Raiders didn't have such good today, either.
Abilene Slim SASS 81783 Posted November 16, 2015 Author Posted November 16, 2015 Nope, nothing to brag about in KC. Most of the points scored were field goals. This game was more of "whew", we didn't stink up the place as usual. Regardless, Peyton is not the future of the franchise. He is to Denver what Joe Montana was to Kansas City in the early '90s. Wish we could have seen the Pats game (no cable here). That was a thriller.
Tell Sackett SASS 18436 Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 Welcome to the world of Gary Kubiak. Start great, then head downhill as the season goes on.
Charlie Harley, #14153 Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 I want Peyton to retire before he gets hit the wrong way and his wife feeds him oatmeal the rest of his life. He's had too many neck surgeries for my comfort, and I really like him as a person.

Badger Mountain Charlie SASS #43172 Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 Well, it seems to be the day for some ugly football. Seattle does not seem to have the smell of victory in the stadium, at least for the home crowd.

He's had too many neck surgeries for my comfort, and I really like him as a person. He really should have retired 2 years ago. After last year for sure. He has not played well all year. Stayed a year to long.

My guess is that he was going for another 'reachable' record. And his love for the game is still great. At his level of play, its probably real hard to stop. ..........Widder
Marshal Mo Hare, SASS #45984 Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 It certainly ain't the salary that keeps him going.

One of the saddest things in sports is a superstar who hangs on a bit too long, like Johnny Unitas and our hometown hero, Len Dawson. He's not quite there yet, but I hope Peyton quits before that happens. Having said that, I can't say I'd behave any differently if people were willing to pay me millions anyway.
Badger Mountain Charlie SASS #43172 Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 Just a passing thought about the Denver/Kansas City game. Maybe Kansas City has trophy envy about the Royals winning the WS?
Abilene Slim SASS 81783 Posted November 16, 2015 Author Posted November 16, 2015 Mebbe so, but I'm thinking that fantasy balloon has a leak that will deflate before too long!
Widder, SASS #59054 Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 Maybe Denver needs to borrow some game balls from the Patriots..... ..........Widder
Tom Bullweed Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 The Panthers are still undefeated. Newton was 12 of 13 in the first quarter. If you just watched a quarter without knowing their record, you would likely think that they are good but no powerhouse. They play just enough to win. Maybe that is why they are still all healthy. It does not hurt that they have very good offense and defense lines this year. I think that it may also help that the major players are in their prime years.
Noz Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 I watched Peyton last night and felt sorry for him. He stood on the sideline for the second half and never took his helmet off. A man watching the last of his youth evaporate. Sad. He may be able to play more but I would hope he is smart enough to see what's coming and quit while he can still enjoy some life.
Bama Red Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 Anytime he wants to quit, I'll bet there is a coaching job waiting in either college or the pros. With his work ethic, spooky knowledge of the game and his people skills, he'd be a natural.
Bart Solo Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 The best line in the local media, " Bronco's President, John Elway, tried to throw in the towel, but Marcus Peters intercepted it." Peyton's passing rating was 0.0. That is sad. There is a rumor floating around that Payton is going to have surgery on his foot. He is probably gone for the year. Alex Smith still sucks.
Badger Mountain Charlie SASS #43172 Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 My biggest complaint about football yesterday is that they tuned away from the game between Denver and Kansas City, to the Pat's/Giants game. The commentators last remarks before they switched was " LETS SWITCH OVER TO A MORE INTERESTING GAME". Odd that an announcer would say that, but I was enjoying watching the game to see which team could give the game away. I didn't even watch the sea hawks game. After the first five minutes I could tell that it was not going to be to my liking at the end of the 4th quarter.
Trailrider #896 Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 Manning has a partial tear in the planta fascia of the left foot. According to one report, that is more painful than a complete tear! He felt he was "ready to go", he said. Obviously, that wasn't the case. It is really sad. I have to concur about wanting him to quit before he sustains a paralyzing neck injury or worse! Osweiller is a good QB, though not great. He is big, and appears to be able to scramble. I don't know what would have happened if Osweiller had gotten hurt. Maybe "Ol' Horseface" could have come down out of the booth! At least he had the sense to quit after having won two Superbowls. Broncos in the playoffs, much less winning the Bowl this year? I sure dunno, but it doesn't look good. OTOH, there are other, more important things in the world to worry about! And "Alfred E. Newman" doesn't seem to think there is anything to worry about!
Badger Mountain Charlie SASS #43172 Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 Even though I carry scars from the early days, when Seattle was in the AFC division of the NFL, I would not want harm to come to any of the players. I would hope that Payton would lay down the glove and accept that fact that time has caught up with him. He has nothing to prove and to damage his body would be a severe consequence.
