Shawnee McGrutt Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 Those guys with the flashing lights on top of their cars, are a bit touchy about going over the speed limit.
JudgeBagodonuts Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 True story... We're in bumper to bumper traffic between Baltimore and Washington. My friend is driving as fast as everyone else and comes upon someone doing 50mph (in a 55mph zone) in the left lane. He passes the guy on the right and gets back into the left lane. I look into the guys eyes as he watched us pass and see that he's pissed. As we were doing so, I notice his vehicle is festooned with antennas. My friend, the driver, says "What's up with that guy?" I reply "Don't know, but he just put on his state trooper's hat." Ten seconds later, the guy's car lights up like a Christmas Tree. He pulls us over and writes a ticket for following too close.
Trailrider #896 Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 Most driving schools/laws, etc, say you should allow one car length between you and the car ahead of you for every 10 miles an hour you are driving. At 50 mph that means you should be five car lengths behind the car in front of you. Except in Colorado that will mean five cars will cut in between you and the car ahead of you! Also, Colorado natives believe you may drive ten miles over the speed limit regardless of the road conditions. (I just live here...I am NOT a native!) OTOH, when I lived in California, the rule was, "honk yer horn and step on the gass!" When driving in San Francisco, I had seen drivers who happened to spot a friend on the sidewalk, stop on a dime...on a steep hill, with no warning at all!!! Makes it tough when you are in an old flatbed truck with a load of sheetrock.
