Subdeacon Joe Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 Still some country there. http://villagenews.com/uncategorized/mountain-lion-seen-feeding-on-buck/ Of course, the blurb doesn't make a lot of sense: This picture was captured Thursday when Ian Mackenzie was driving on Twin Oaks Valley Rd. just south of Gopher Canyon and the Fallbrook/Bonsall area at about 4 pm. The Department of Fish and Game were on hand and encouraged the mountain lion to vacate the area, as well as the buck he was feeding on. Now, I'm not an expert, but I have a feeling that the buck was in no condition to "vacate the area."Also wonder why DFG "encouraged" the cat to leave without dragging the buck off/
Badger Mountain Charlie SASS #43172 Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 Looks like he/she has found a 5 star restaurant.
Yul Lose Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 That's about 6 miles from my house. We live on 9 pretty heavily wooded acres with two live streams coming through and I've seen a couple of mountain lions on our property over the years. I was sitting in the spa one evening and looked up the hill behind my house and there was one of them just laying on an oak tree limb without a care in the world, it took off when I tried to hurry in the house to get a camera. Every now and then there will be one dead on the highway between us and Escondido.
Bama Red Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 Yup, ya wasn't wearing your birthday outfit when ya exited that spa, was ya? That'd be enough to scare the lion AND the neighbors for five miles around......just sayin, pard! :D
Forty Rod SASS 3935 Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 sIn my 40 years in southern California I have seem numerous cougars, one at the J. C. Penney loading dock at Montclair Plaza, one on the base at Seal Beack and a couple in the nearby canyons. I have also seen bobcat just of the interstate less that a mile east of LAX and on the skirts of the landing patch for the Goodyear, in parking lot at Diamond Bar and in the hills north of the I-19 from LA to San Bernardino, numerous mule deer, a few black bears ,coyotes galore, a raccoon or several in business trash bins from Long Beach and Seal Beach to Redlands and north to Ventura. There are many other species unmentioned, too. There are porcupine, skunks, owls, hawks, eagles, vultures, and almost every other kind of birds, all inside a 50-75 mile circle of from downtown LALA, nearly in the center of several millions of humans. Dozens of varieties of snakes, both poisonous and nonpoisonous and nearly every kind of buggie critters known in the SW USA are also resident there. In that time a number of people have been killed, and some eaten, by these creatures.... all within a few scant miles of LAX, Hollywood, and the rest of the graters LA area. 'Taint unusual at all.
Colorado Coffinmaker Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 Just move the deer caracas into the brush and the let the Kitty have lunch in peace. Coffinmaker
