irish ike, SASS #43615 Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Where would one by lowered hammers for these? Thanks Ike
Doc Fill 'Em 67797 Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Midway USA. If they are out of them when you order put them on backorder and you will get them eventually, usually in a few weeks. But if you are lucky they will have them. You want Super Blackhawk hammers.
Larsen E. Pettifogger, SASS #32933 Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Ruger, Brownells, Midway. You are looking for the Ruger Super Blackhawk or Montado hammer. (Montado is the same as the SBH but has checkering instead of serrations. The serrations give a better grip on your thumb IMHO.) http://www.midwayusa.com/product/841361/ruger-hammer-assembly-ruger-super-blackhawk-hunter-stainless-steel?cm_vc=ProductFinding http://www.brownells.com/schematics/Ruger-/Super-Blackhawk-sid723.aspx Part #28.
Sedalia Dave Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Midway USA carries Super Black Hawk and Bisley hammers. Just have to find them in stock.
Chili Ron Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Howdy, I have been told that some come pretty rough. I was lucky enuf to git a couple that had been on guns and they are pretty smooth, dropped right in. Best CR
Larsen E. Pettifogger, SASS #32933 Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 I checked my parts box and have some extras. If you need a pair they are $67.00 shipped. Let me know.
The Original Lumpy Gritz Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Got some from Midway. They came with very sharp edges that need'd some attention. You can use green Scotchbrite to duplicate the factory finish. Larsen's price is VERY fair That said-There maybe an interference issue using the new hammers with the bottom of the cyl pawl contacting the grip frame. OLG
irish ike, SASS #43615 Posted October 18, 2015 Author Posted October 18, 2015 I'm looking at buying a pair of NM Vaquero's in 44-40. Action job no replacement hammers. Larson is always fair and a good source of info for most anything. Ike
Larsen E. Pettifogger, SASS #32933 Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 NM Vaquero is an ambiguous description. All Rugers with transfer bars are NM. There is the Vaquero and New Vaquero. They don't make New Vaqueros in .44-40. That means you have to look for a pair of used Vaqueros.
