Looks like they know how to do it in Lockhart, TX.#6, #13 and #18.Should be able to find the locations, Lockhart Population - approx. 13,000.

Very easy to find. They're all on the main road through town. All excellent places.

Looks like I need to check out Taylor.

Kreuz Market in Lockhart, TX is the best in Lockhart. One of the best in Texas.

I've been to Arthur Bryant's, although it was 30+ years ago. The fire station I worked at was right around the corner. I've had Pappy's and I intend to take Uno there as soon as we get a chance.

Looks like Kansas City did richt well for itself. :)

It did, but IMNSHO, the places chosen are only above average. The best is Danny Edwards BBQ (formerly Li'l Jakes) for the 27 years I've been a patron. And I'm a self-appointed (annointed?) expert.

Now that's settled, who's playing better baseball right now -- Cardinals or Royals? Dang I'm looking forward to the post season! :)

Best ribs I've ever had, and I've been to about ten of those places on the list.

RIBS ARE NOT BARBECUE! Pork: smoked, chopped and served with slaw, hushpuppies and sweet tea is BBQ. (And what would an English newspaper know about it anyway?) You may argue about eastern vs western NC style 'cue, but it is pork......

See you down the trail......

The Daily Meal, not The Daily Mail. It's a US website. I did a double-take too when I thought it was a UK newspaper. :)

And I'm not wasting my time arguing with someone that doesn't think ribs are barbecue. :)

+1

When you smoke 'em and slather them with sauce, or not, they don't become Sushi or tofu for that matter. That is BBQ.

I live within an hour of these places (except the Dallas one) but the best BBQ is in my smoker right now out back. So far the Austin Fire Dept. has only stopped by once for the smoke call. Brisket cookin now for 30 hours, the ribs are at 24 and the chickens are at 16. 200 degrees temp and tons of Mesquite...

I don't see any eastern North Carolina vinegar BBQ or Western Kentucky mutton BBQ on the list. North Carolina is my favorite BBQ style, but not popular with people who like sweet sauce. It's traditional to have BBQ at IDPA major matches and I have seen people bring their own bottles of red sauce to the Carolina Cup .

Outside North Carolina, my favorite BBQ place is the Famous Dave's chain. I know it's not cool to like a chain, but they have the best food,.

#6 Kreuz Market! Absolutely love it, especially the jalapeno sausage and brisket, and that central Texas atmosphere. Anytime we're in Houston, it's worth the 2 hour drive to Lochart. While there, go to Texas Hatters and order a handmade, custom made cowboy hat..

Dreamland is great for ribs and should have made the list. The original is in Tuscaloosa, AL and has been featured on TV many times over the years on football game days. They now have multiple locations around Alabama and Georgia.

I can vouch for #5, Big Bob Gibson's in Decatur, AL. I've got a bottle of their sauce in the pantry right now for when I can't make the 110 mile round trip!
